Mr. and Mrs. Pumpkin are hostile mobs added by Born in Chaos. They form a pumpkin-headed pair that appears at the Halloween season. Mr. Pumpkin is a close-range melee monster that lunges at its target. Mrs. Pumpkin is a slow, fire-immune mob that fires pumpkin staff projectiles from a distance. A third form, Mr. Pumpkin (controlled), is a tameable, temporary version of Mr. Pumpkin that can be obtained only from its spawn egg. Both hostile forms are monsters that spawn at night in the overworld, so they are a horror-themed threat in the Fear Nightfall pack.

Spawning

Mr. Pumpkin and Mrs. Pumpkin spawn naturally in the same biomes as each other, in the overworld only. Their natural spawn weights and group sizes are listed in the table below.

Both hostile forms share a spawn-placement rule that is stricter than their biome weights alone. A natural spawn is allowed only when all of the following hold:

• Seasonal window. The server's calendar date falls between 25 October and 31 October, or between 1 November and 7 November. The halloweenEvent game rule (default false) forces the window to be always open. The check also requires the seasonalEvents (default true) and serPumpkinheadSpawn (default true) game rules to be enabled.
• Darkness. If the spawn position can see the sky, the light level must be 4 or lower. If it cannot, the light level must be 0. Spawns in daylight or in lit interiors are blocked.
• Biome. The spawn cannot be in Deep Dark or Mushroom Fields. The biome must be an overworld biome, or a Terralith biome.

Mr. Pumpkin (controlled) has no natural biome spawns. It is created by its spawn egg, and it receives its temporary effect at the moment it is created.

Behavior

Mr. Pumpkin

Mr. Pumpkin has 12 health (6 hearts), a movement speed of 0.35, and an attack damage of 3. It has 0.9 knockback resistance, so it is hard to push back.

Its main movement is a lunge. When it has a target and is not already moving toward one, it moves to the target's eye position at speed 2.0. Once its bounding box touches the target, it attacks in melee. It also has a melee goal that can attack when the target is within its width plus the target's width and in line of sight.

Mr. Pumpkin targets players, Pumpkin Spirits, Controlled Baby Skeletons and Iron Golems. It also retaliates against whatever damages it. It takes no damage from falls, cactus, or drowning. It is not immune to fire.

Mrs Pumpkin

Mrs Pumpkin is the slower and tougher of the pair. She has 30 health (15 hearts), 1 armor, a movement speed of 0.2, and a follow range of 23. Her step height is 3 blocks, so she can climb steep terrain that would stop Mr. Pumpkin.

Her attack is ranged. When a player is within 15 blocks and she can see them for at least 5 ticks, she fires a Pumpkin Staff projectile. Her shots have a fixed interval of 60 ticks, which is 3 seconds. Each projectile deals a base damage of 2. She also retaliates against attackers.

Mrs Pumpkin is fire-immune. She takes no damage from fire, falls, cactus, drowning, or lightning. Her knockback resistance is 0.8, and she wanders randomly when no target is present.

Mr. Pumpkin (controlled)

The controlled variant is a tameable form of Mr. Pumpkin with 26 health (13 hearts), a movement speed of 0.36, and a knockback resistance of 1.2. It has no natural spawns.

When it is created, it receives Resistance II for 2400 ticks (2 minutes). When the effect expires, the mob vanishes with a poof of smoke. The variant does not persist beyond that window, even after it has been tamed. A baby controlled Mr. Pumpkin is replaced by a fresh controlled one in the same way.

It can be tamed by feeding it a food item. Each feeding has a 1 in 3 chance of taming it. Once tamed by its owner, it can be healed by feeding it food, which restores health equal to the food's nutrition value.

Drops

Mr. Pumpkin drops a Smoldering Infernal Ember when it is killed. The drop is guaranteed, with a count of 1. The other two forms list no loot in the game data.

Variants

Three distinct forms are included on this page. Their stats are listed in the table below.

• Mr. Pumpkin is the hostile melee form. It spawns naturally in the seasonal window and has a Spawn Egg.
• Mrs Pumpkin is the hostile ranged form. It spawns naturally in the seasonal window and has a Spawn Egg.
• Mr. Pumpkin (controlled) is the temporary, tameable form. It is available only from its Spawn Egg.

Tips

• Both hostile forms spawn only in darkness. Lit areas are safer during late October and early November, when the seasonal window is open.
• Mrs Pumpkin moves at speed 0.2, so she is easy to outrun. Break her line of sight to stop her projectiles, since she needs to see a player for 5 ticks before firing.
• Mr. Pumpkin lunges at speed 2.0 once it has a target. Expect it to close the distance quickly.
• Fire, lightning, and drowning do not reduce Mrs Pumpkin's health. Fire-based defences do not work against her.
• The controlled Mr. Pumpkin vanishes after 2 minutes, so plan around its short lifespan if you use it as an ally.
