Oases are two warm, dry overworld biomes added by Terralith: the Desert Oasis and the Red Oasis. Both are rare in Fear Nightfall's world, covering 0.11% and 0.03% of the land surface respectively, so a player has to search for them. Each is a water-rich pocket set inside a desert or badlands landscape, and both carry hostile spawn lists that include horror mobs from Born in Chaos and Graveyard.
Description
Both oases use the same general layout: canyon terrain carved from sandstone, with pools, palms and plant patches set around the water. They differ mainly in the stone that forms the ground and in their colour palette.
Desert Oasis
The Desert Oasis is built on sandstone. Its canyon features use sandstone with clay, moss and moss carpet, and the biome adds lakes with lily pads, dripleaf, and two kinds of palm trees (the scattered_palms and lake_palms features). Its water is teal green, its fog is pale blue and its sky is light blue, so the biome reads as cool against the sand around it.
Red Oasis
The Red Oasis is built on red sandstone and sits in the badlands climate. Its canyon features use red sandstone and include a terracotta feature, so the ground and walls show the banded red clay of the badlands. Its fog and sky are a warm beige rather than blue. Its vegetation and water features match the Desert Oasis.
Generation
Both oases are warm and completely dry. Each has a temperature of 2 and a downfall of 0, and neither has precipitation, so there is no rain or snow. Terralith groups the two under its oases biome tag, and both are included in its warm-temperature tag.
The Desert Oasis covers 0.11% of the land surface, and its cave share at y=-30 is 0.04%. The Red Oasis covers 0.03% of the land surface. Neither oasis is one of the pack's 6× horror-weighted biomes, so their frequency is set by the pack's general biome table alone (see the Biomes article).
Features
Terrain and water features:
- Canyon lakes built from the local sandstone (the Desert Oasis) or red sandstone (the Red Oasis).
- Lava lakes on the surface and underground, along with spring water and spring lava.
- An amethyst geode, a desert well, and vanilla fossils and monster rooms in the stone below.
Plants and surface blocks:
- Dead bushes, cacti, sugar cane and pumpkin patches, plus badlands grass patches and the standard flower placement.
- Brown and red mushrooms and glow lichen.
- Lily pads and dripleaf growing around the water.
Ores. The biome uses the normal overworld ore placements for diamond, gold, iron, lapis, redstone, copper, and the stone variants. It also includes ores added by the pack's mods:
- The infected diamond ore and black argillite placements from Born in Chaos.
- Mithril ore from Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks.
- Sulfur ore in deepslate, from Butchery.
Mobs and structures
The Desert Oasis' hostile spawn list is led by spiders, skeletons, creepers and slimes (each with weight 100), followed by husks (weight 80) and slime golems (weight 25). Its horror mobs include Nightmare and Dread Hound (weight 7 each). The Red Oasis uses the same hostile list and adds Terracotta Golem (weight 6) and wolves (weight 3) to its passive list. Passive spawns in the Desert Oasis are rabbits (weight 4) and camels (weight 1). Glow squids spawn in the underground water (weight 10), and bats spawn in the air (weight 10).
Structures that can generate in the Desert Oasis include Desert Oasis Village and the Desert Outpost from Terralith, along with vanilla desert pyramids and desert wells. The Red Oasis has its own village and outpost variants, and it also allows Born in Chaos and Graveyard horror structures. The full structure lists (169 for the Desert Oasis and 139 for the Red Oasis) are shown in the table below.

Tips
- Oases are rare, so search the warm, dry desert and badlands regions rather than expecting to stumble on one. The Desert Oasis is about four times as common as the Red Oasis.
- Most of the hostile spawns are ordinary skeletons, spiders, creepers and slimes. The horror mobs, Nightmare and Dread Hound, are much rarer, but they appear in the same spawn list, so keep a weapon ready at night.
- The biome has lava lakes on the surface, so check the ground before crossing dark sand at night. Spring lava also appears in the water features.
- The passive mobs are sparse. Rabbits are the most frequent, and camels are rare.
