The Snowy Cherry Grove is a cold overworld biome added by Terralith. It combines the pink blossom trees of the Cherry Grove with a snowfall climate, so cherry trees and azalea bushes grow under a layer of snow. It is one of the rarest biomes in Fear Nightfall, covering about 0.04% of the land surface, and its monster spawns are dense and include several pack-added horror mobs at low weight.

Description

The Snowy Cherry Grove is a forest biome with a snow-covered floor. Its grass and foliage share the same colour, a yellow-green (#b6db61), so the trees and ground read as one tone. The water is a clear blue (#5db7ef), the sky is a pale blue (#7ba4ff) and the fog is a light blue-white (#c0d8ff).

The biome's trees are the pink cherry trees of the vanilla cherry grove, placed by the biome's own tree feature. Plant life includes azalea bushes, glow lichen and patches of tall grass and grass. Stone rock formations from the Terralith cherry feature are scattered across the ground, and the freeze pass and snow layers add snow over the top of the terrain.

The biome's ambient sound is the cave sound, played at intervals of 6,000 ticks. Its music is the cherry grove track, which can play every 12,000 to 24,000 ticks and does not replace music that is already playing.

Generation

The Snowy Cherry Grove has a temperature of 0.1 and a downfall of 0.8, and its precipitation is snow. Its share of the land surface is about 0.04%. It is not one of the pack's 6× horror biomes, so its rarity comes from the normal Terralith share.

The biome can generate 187 structures, so it sits among many of the pack's structure sets. Its listed structures include igloos from vanilla and Terralith, cherry houses from AdoraBuild, illager camps and hideouts from Nova Structures, and several horror structures. The full list is in the table below.

Features

The biome has the following terrain features:

  • Trees and plants: cherry trees, azalea bushes, glow lichen, tall grass patches and grass patches.
  • Rock formations: a Terralith cherry rock feature, placed in the same generation step as the amethyst geodes.
  • Snow: a freeze pass that sets snow on top of the ground, plus three Terralith snow layer features.
  • Water and lava: spring water and spring lava, underground and surface lava lakes, and underwater magma.
  • Ores: the standard overworld ores, including coal, iron, copper, gold, redstone, lapis lazuli, emerald and diamond in its medium, large and buried forms. Also included are gravel, granite, diorite, andesite and tuff veins, and sand, clay and gravel disks.
  • Pack ores: Mithril ore from Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks, infected diamond ore and Black Argillite from Born in Chaos, and sulfur ore from Butchery.
  • Caves: amethyst geodes, monster rooms and deep monster rooms. The biome uses the cave, extra underground cave and canyon carvers.

Mobs and structures

The monster table is led by spiders, skeletons, creepers, slimes and zombies, each at a weight of 95 to 100. Revenants and slime golems spawn at weight 25, and necromancers at weight 18.

The pack-added horror mobs have low weights. Nightmare and dread hounds spawn at weight 7, spirits of chaos at weight 4, and nightmare stalkers at weight 2. Endermen spawn at weight 10.

Passive and ambient creatures include wolves (weight 8), honey golems (weight 6), crows (weight 20), ferrets and Shima Enaga (weight 3 each), and bats (weight 10). Ambient insects such as ladybugs and snails also spawn here. Water creatures include glow squids, Corpse Fish and Glutton Fish.

The biome's structures include the Ice Spider Den, the Impaled Icebreaker, the Catacombs, the Evoker Fort, the Illager Hideout and Manor, the Firewell and the Glacial Hut and Igloo. The table below lists every structure the biome can generate.

Tips

The biome's monster spawns are dense, so carry light and a weapon when you travel through it at night. The pack-added horror mobs are rare here, but Nightmares, dread hounds and necromancers are among the more dangerous spawns. The Ice Spider Den and the Catacombs are dangerous to enter without preparation.
