The Impaled Icebreaker is a small overworld structure added by Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks. It is a single prefabricated piece built mostly of packed ice, spruce and dark oak planks, and copper blocks. It holds a captain's chest, two food barrels and a loot barrel, and it contains no mobs. Players mainly visit it for its loot, and a Cryomancer can sell a map that leads to it.

Generation

The structure generates in the Overworld as a random-spread structure. Its in-game spacing is 144 chunks with a separation of 96 chunks; these values already include the pack's Sparse Structures scaling, so the structure is noticeably rarer here than the mod's default. No instance was found in a 26 km² sample of the Overworld, so expect to travel a long way to find one.

It generates in 18 biomes, most of them cold, icy or frozen. These include Frozen Ocean, Deep Frozen Ocean, Ice Spikes, Frozen Peaks and Pine Slopes, along with drier cold biomes such as Snowy Badlands and Cold Desert and biomes from other mods such as Frozen Cliffs. The full list is in the biome table below.

The structure is placed on the surface of the terrain at its position, using a rigid projection. Its footprint is 21 by 25 by 29 blocks.

Layout

The structure is one piece with no internal rooms beyond its walls and floors. Packed ice forms a large share of the blocks. Spruce and dark oak planks and stairs make up most of the rest, with spruce and dark oak fences, cut copper, and trapdoors (mostly spruce, with a few iron trapdoors). A chain and a flower pot are the only other decorations.

The copper blocks in the structure do not stay as they were built. The pack's processor weathers each copper block, cut copper and copper stairs when the structure is generated, so the copper in every instance is either Weathered or Oxidized. The processor applies two or three weathering steps to each block, so the copper is never left as fresh copper.

Three barrels and one chest hold the structure's loot. A blast furnace is placed among the blocks but holds no items. The loot tables are described in the Loot section.

Inhabitants

The Impaled Icebreaker places no mobs and no spawners. Nothing in the structure is hostile by itself, so the danger comes from the surrounding frozen biomes at night, not from the structure.

The Cryomancer is the only mob linked to the structure. Cryomancers offer a trade of one furled map for 32 emeralds, with a single use per trade. The map leads to the Impaled Icebreaker and is offered in place of an Ice Spider Den map on a random basis, decided once when the Cryomancer's offers are generated. The Cryomancer's trade list is otherwise independent of the structure.

Loot

The structure's chest and barrels use the mod's own loot tables. The captain's quarters chest has the best loot. Its guaranteed items are Epic Ink, a Permafrost Shard, a Bundle, a Goat Horn, a Spyglass, and 27 to 35 Paper. Its rarer items are Rings, Amulets and Charms: a Fireward Ring (3%), an Amulet of Concentration (2%), a Frostward Ring (2%), a Ring of Invisibility (2%), an Amulet of Teleportation (2%) and a Ring of Expediency (1%).

The two food barrels hold mostly guaranteed food and fishing gear: bread (5 to 9), raw cod (3 to 6), a bucket, a fishing rod and a pufferfish. Stews appear in each barrel with a chance of roughly half. The third barrel uses the Mountain Tower ice barrel loot table, so it can also contain a Frostward Ring (14%), snowballs and ice.

The tables are listed in the section below.

Tips

The frozen biomes around the structure can hold hostile mobs at night, so plan the trip for daylight where possible.

Open the captain's quarters chest first, since it holds most of the ring and amulet rolls. Each of those is a low chance, so a single visit will often yield none of them. The food barrels supply food for the trip back.

Because the structure is rare in this pack and nothing marks its location, a Cryomancer's map is the most direct way to find one.
