Wisewood and Decorative Blocks is a group of ten blocks added by Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks. The group covers the wisewood bookshelves, the Pedestal, the Armor Pile, the Firefly Jar, the Portal Frame, two braziers, a Nether Brick Pillar and the Tyros Statue. Most are crafted from vanilla materials combined with arcane ingredients such as Arcane Essence, and they are built for decoration, light and atmosphere rather than for combat. Several of them carry a horror edge: the Armor Pile calls a Keeper when it is broken, and braziers hurt anything that stands inside them.

Obtaining

Every block on this page is crafted, either at a crafting table or with a stonecutter. The Armor Pile also drops nuggets when broken (see below).

Armor Pile drops

An Armor Pile has one loot roll. Iron Nuggets have weight 3 and Gold Nuggets have weight 1, so the drop is Iron Nuggets 75% of the time and Gold Nuggets 25% of the time. Either way, the count is between 5 and 13.

Usage

Wisewood bookshelves

The plain Wisewood Bookshelf is in the enchantment power provider block tag, so it contributes to an enchanting table's power in the same way that a bookshelf does. It is harvested with an axe and has a hardness of 1.5.

The Wisewood Chiseled Bookshelf has six book slots, numbered slot_0 to slot_5, and stores books in the same way as a vanilla chiseled bookshelf. It is also harvested with an axe and has a hardness of 1.5.

Pedestal

The Pedestal holds one item on its top surface. Right-clicking it with an item swaps the item it holds with the one in the player's hand. It has a hardness of 3.5, requires a pickaxe, and can be waterlogged. The held item is saved with the block and is dropped when the block is broken.

Armor Pile

The Armor Pile has four horizontal facings and can be waterlogged. It has a hardness of 5 and a blast resistance of 8, and it requires a pickaxe. When the block is broken, it spawns a Keeper at its position, plays a soul-escape sound and emits soul particles. The Keeper is a hostile spellcasting mob. The nugget drop is described under Obtaining.

Firefly Jar

The Firefly Jar emits light level 8 and has a hardness of 0.3. It can be harvested by any tool and can be waterlogged. Its only behaviour is decorative: it emits firefly particles around the glass.

Portal Frame

The Portal Frame is a rare, fire-resistant block with a hardness of 10 and a blast resistance of 6. Its states are facing and half, so it is a two-block-tall block. A Portal Frame records the player who placed it as its owner. The Portal spell can connect Portal Frames.

Two server settings control who can change a frame:

• portalFrameRestrictDye defaults to true. While a frame is connected, only its owner can dye it to a different colour.
• portalFrameRestrictBreaking defaults to false. When it is set to true, only the owner can break a frame.

Breaking a connected Portal Frame also removes its portal connection.

Brazier and Soul Brazier

The Brazier and the Soul Brazier are identical in behaviour apart from their particles and their recipes. Both are lit by default when placed outside water, and a lit brazier emits light level 15. A lit brazier deals 1 damage to a living entity whose bounding box overlaps the interior of the block. Mobs treat braziers as a fire hazard and avoid them when pathfinding.

• A brazier placed beneath a chain hangs from it.
• A shovel with the douse action puts out a lit brazier, and flint and steel relights an unlit one.
• A brazier placed in water is waterlogged and left unlit.
• The Soul Brazier emits soul particles instead of embers.

Nether Brick Pillar

The Nether Brick Pillar is a rotated pillar with axis set to x, y or z. It has a hardness of 2 and a blast resistance of 6, and it requires a pickaxe.

Tyros Statue

The Tyros Statue is a decorative statue. Its placement can be fine-tuned with 16 rotation steps and four offset positions on each axis. It has a hardness of 1.5 and a blast resistance of 6, and it requires a pickaxe.
