Nature Spells
Nature Spells are the nature school of Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks, one of nine magic schools in the pack alongside Fire Spells, Ice Spells, Lightning Spells, Holy Spells, Ender Spells, Blood Spells, Evocation Spells and Eldritch Spells. The school has 13 spells built around poison, roots, earth tremors, acid and self-buffs. Several of its offensive spells apply poison, Rend or slowing effects, and its utility spells include a block-breaking tool and a food-to-mana conversion.
Overview
Each school has a spell power attribute and a per-school magic resistance attribute. A player's nature spell power raises the damage, radius and duration of nature spells. Mobs receive per-school resistance values when they spawn, based on their tags, so some creatures resist nature magic more than others.
Nature spells are stored on Spell Books and on Scrolls. A scroll holds a single spell, and a scroll can be merged with ink in the Arcane Anvil to raise its rarity and level. Spell rarity sets the lowest rarity a spell can appear at, and every nature spell can roll up to Legendary. The rune items and the spell-slot upgrade items are used in the Arcane Anvil upgrade system.
The mana cost of a nature spell is its base mana cost plus its per-level mana cost times the spell level minus one. Cooldowns are fixed per spell and do not change with level. Most nature spells scale their damage, radius or duration from spell power.
Spells
The table below is generated from game data. The subsections give the numbers the table does not show: how each spell scales with spell power, its effects and its in-game limits.

Acid Spit
Acid Spit is a Common long-cast spell that throws an acid orb. The orb splashes in a radius on impact and applies the Rend effect to creatures it hits, which reduces their armor. The splash radius is 3 blocks per point of spell power. The Rend amplifier is the spell level plus 2, and its duration is spell power × 20 seconds. Mobs that cast it stop when their target has less than 4 armor.
Blight
Blight is a Rare long-cast spell that targets a creature within 32 blocks. It applies the Blight effect, which reduces the target's incoming healing by 10% and its outgoing damage by 5%, multiplied by the effect level. The effect amplifier is the spell level minus one, and its duration is spell power × 30 seconds. The spell has a 90-second cooldown.
Earthquake
Earthquake is an Uncommon long-cast spell that opens a tremor area around a targeted creature or location. The tremor lasts 12 seconds. Its damage is 0.25 times spell power, and its radius is 4 blocks plus 4 times the entity power multiplier. Creatures in the area are slowed by an amplifier equal to the damage value minus 2, clamped between 0 and 2, so the slowing effect ranges from Slowness I to Slowness III. The spell has a 16-second cooldown.
Firefly Swarm
Firefly Swarm is an Uncommon long-cast spell that releases a swarm of fireflies which follows a targeted creature and deals area damage. The swarm's damage is one third of spell power, and its area radius is 2 blocks. If the initial target dies, the swarm moves to the last creature it harmed. The spell has a 20-second cooldown.
Gluttony
Gluttony is a Common instant spell that gives the caster the Gluttony effect for spell power × 20 ticks. While the effect is active, the caster can eat at any hunger level, and each food item eaten converts to mana. The mana gained from a food item is its nutrition multiplied by (4 + amplifier) × 0.5, where the amplifier is the spell level minus one. The spell has a 90-second cooldown and a fixed base mana cost of 35.
Oakskin
Oakskin is a Common instant spell that gives the caster the Oakskin effect for spell power × 20 ticks. The effect reduces incoming damage by 20% at the spell's fixed amplifier. That value is scaled by the entity power multiplier and capped at 75%. The effect also slows the caster's movement by 25%. Oakskin is also sold as an elixir in the Alchemist Cauldron and Elixirs. Elixir Oakskin does not scale with spell power, so its reduction is always the base value. The spell has a 90-second cooldown.
Poison Arrow
Poison Arrow is a Common long-cast spell that fires an arrow imbued with poison. The arrow deals damage equal to spell power on a direct hit. On impact it releases a poison cloud that deals area damage equal to 0.185 times spell power. The spell has a 15-second cooldown and a maximum level of 10.
Poison Spray
Poison Spray is a Common continuous-cast spell that sprays a cone of poison. Its damage is 1 plus 0.75 times spell power. A cast can last up to 100 ticks, and the spell has a 12-second cooldown. Mobs stop casting it when the target is more than about 11 blocks away.
Poison Splash
Poison Splash is an Uncommon long-cast spell that conjures a wave of poisonous magic around a targeted creature or block. The wave damages creatures it hits for an amount equal to spell power and leaves a poison cloud that lasts 100 + 40 × spell level ticks. The spell targets within 32 blocks and has a 20-second cooldown.
Root
Root is an Uncommon long-cast spell that sprouts magical roots around a targeted creature and prevents non-magical movement. The roots last spell power × 20 ticks. They have 40 health multiplied by the entity power multiplier, so attacks can break them before the duration ends. Creatures in the game's root-immune tag cannot be targeted. The spell has a 35-second cooldown.
Aspect of the Spider
Aspect of the Spider is a Rare instant spell that gives the caster the Spider Aspect effect for spell power × 20 ticks. While it is active, the caster deals 5% more damage per effect level to targets that have an effect in the Spider Aspect tag. The effect's amplifier is the spell level minus one. The spell has a 90-second cooldown.
Stomp
Stomp is an Uncommon long-cast spell that sends a short tremor forward through the ground. The tremor damages creatures in its path for an amount equal to spell power. Its range is 4 blocks plus the spell level multiplied by the entity power multiplier, and it knocks back creatures in the area. The spell has a 16-second cooldown and a maximum level of 5.
Touch Dig
Touch Dig is a Rare instant spell that breaks the block the caster is looking at. Its harvest tier rises with spell power, so higher spell power can break harder blocks. It cannot be cast in Adventure mode, and it cannot break blocks that have no break speed or that the current harvest tier cannot mine. Held items affect the drops of the broken block. The spell has a 0.5-second cooldown and a maximum level of 3.
Tips
- Root and Earthquake both hold creatures in an area, so a root placed on a single target can be followed by Earthquake to damage and slow the rest of a group.
- Oakskin's elixir form gives a fixed reduction, which makes it a predictable choice when spell power is low.
