The Iron's Spellbooks Materials are the crafting ingredients added by Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks for its spell books, staffs, weapons, armor and magic jewelry. Most of them form chains that start from a few base materials. Arcane Essence feeds Arcane Cloth and Arcane Ingot, and those feed larger components such as Weapon Parts. Other materials come from a single source, such as Hogskin from hoglins, Dragonskin from the Ender Dragon, and Divine Soulshard from the Echo of Tyros.
Most materials stack to 64. The Energized Core does not stack. The Pyrium Ingot, Weapon Parts and Divine Soulshard are fire resistant. Weapon Parts and Permafrost Shard are rare, and the Divine Soulshard is epic.
Several of the structures that hold these materials belong to the pack's horror set. Catacombs is one of them. Fear Nightfall places horror structures about 30% closer together, and where a horror structure shares a set with other structures it receives six times the weight.
Obtaining
Materials come from four sources: crafting from other materials, mob drops, chest loot in the mod's structures and in vanilla structures, and the Alchemist Cauldron for fluid-based materials. The mod's extra Wandering Trader offers do not include these materials.
Crafting
The grid below lists the recipes that make the materials. Arcane Essence has no crafting recipe and comes only from mob drops and chests. Arcane Cloth, Arcane Ingot and Weapon Parts are crafted from Arcane Essence, and Weapon Parts also needs Mithril Ingots. The Blood Vial and Ice Venom Vial are filled in an Alchemist Cauldron rather than a crafting grid.

Loot and drops
Mobs drop materials as follows.
- Arcane Essence is dropped by the Pyromancer, Cryomancer, Archevoker and Necromancer, and by the bosses Dead King and Echo of Tyros. The Dead King and the Echo of Tyros drop 28 to 45 Arcane Essence per kill, the largest amounts of any source. Looting increases the drop.
- Hogskin is dropped by hoglins.
- Frozen Bone is dropped by strays.
- Dragonskin is dropped by the Ender Dragon.
- Divine Soulshard is dropped by the Echo of Tyros only when a player kills it.
The pack appends extra loot to the drop tables of vanilla Stray, Hoglin, Evoker, Blaze and Ender Dragon.
Chest loot is listed in the table below. Frozen Bone is found in almost every Mountain Tower chest and in most Ice Spider Den chests. Blood Vials are guaranteed in the Dead King's vault in Catacombs. Permafrost Shard is guaranteed in the captain's quarters of the Impaled Icebreaker. Weapon Parts and Arcane Cloth also appear in vanilla trial chamber chests. Fear Nightfall extends the mod's loot to the chests of the pack's replacement temples, fortresses and strongholds.

Usage
The materials are ingredients for the rest of the mod. Arcane Ingot and Arcane Cloth are used in magic armor and rings. Hogskin is used in the Apprentice's Spell Book and in the Lesser Spell Slot Improvement. Frozen Bone and Divine Pearl are used in Ice and Holy Runes. Blood Vials are used in the Blood Rune and the Ancient Codex. The sections below cover the materials with special behaviour.

Lightbringer ChestplateBlood Vial and Blood Cauldron
A Blood Vial is made in an Alchemist Cauldron by filling it with 250 mB of blood and a Glass Bottle. Mobs placed in a vanilla cauldron with a campfire underneath are cooked for blood. Every 40 ticks, each entity standing on a vanilla cauldron is checked for cooking, and the cauldron can be converted into a Blood Cauldron. See Blood Spells for the spells that use blood.
Ice Venom Vial
An Ice Venom Vial is made in an Alchemist Cauldron from a Glass Bottle and 250 mB of Ice Venom. It is an ingredient for the Boreal Blade and the Frostbranded Book. See Ice Spells for the spells these items cast.
Lightning Bottle
A Lightning Bottle is made by right-clicking a charged creeper with an empty glass bottle. The creeper takes 5 damage from the action. The Lightning Bottle is an ingredient in 18 recipes, including the Energized Core, the Twilight Gale and the Ancient Codex.
Energized Core
The Energized Core is made from 8 Lightning Bottles and a block of copper. It does not stack. Its tooltip states that the core remains inert under a calm sky.
Dragonskin
When a Dragonskin item is within 5 blocks of an Ender Dragon, it stops falling and drifts downward slowly. It also glows, and the glow colour is set on the client. The Dragonskin Spell Book uses six Dragonskin in its recipe.
Pyrium Ingot
In a blast furnace, one Pyrium Ingot yields five Ancient Debris after 200 ticks, with no experience. The ingot is also used in the Pyrium Staff, the Hellrazor and the Infernal Sorcerer Chestplate.
Wayward Compass
The Wayward Compass is a structure-locating item. Its tooltip reads "No catacombs loaded" when no Catacombs are available to find. For other locating items, see Furled Maps.
Shriving Stone
A Shriving Stone is used on an Arcane Anvil. It removes imbuement or upgrades from an item, and the anvil cost is 1. Equipment can be upgraded up to 3 times by default, so the stone is the way to remove those upgrades.
Permafrost Shard and Frozen Bone
The Permafrost Shard is a rare material used in the Frostward Ring and the Ice Staff. Frozen Bone is used with a Blank Runestone to make an Ice Rune.
Divine Soulshard
The Divine Soulshard is an epic material used in armor and boots, such as the Boots of Speed and the Lightbringer Chestplate.

Tips
- Kill the Dead King or the Echo of Tyros with a weapon that has Looting for the largest Arcane Essence stacks.
- Mithril ore needs a netherite tool to mine. Weapon Parts need three Mithril Ingots, which come from Mithril ore.
- Keep an empty glass bottle ready when you find a charged creeper, since that is how the Lightning Bottle is made.
