The School Armor Sets are eight four-piece armor sets added by Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks. Each set is tied to one of the mod's magic schools: Pyromancer (fire), Electromancer (lightning), Archevoker (evocation), Cultist (blood), Cryomancer (ice), Shadow-Walker (ender), Priest (holy) and Plagued (nature). The eldritch school has no set. Every set has a helmet, a chestplate, leggings and boots. The pieces give the wearer mana and a bonus to the spell power of their school, so they suit a caster who focuses on one school. Each piece is made from a Wizard armor piece, so the sets are an upgrade path from the wizard armor rather than a separate craft.
Obtaining
School armor is not found in the wild. None of the mod's loot tables, mob drops or villager trades include it, so the loot that Iron's Spells adds to chests does not include it either. The only source is crafting.
Each piece needs three ingredients: a Wizard armor piece of the matching slot, the rune of the school, and one Arcane Essence (
Arcane Essence). The Wizard base for the helmet can be either a Wizard Helmet or a Wizard Hat. The rune for each school is:

Runes are covered on the Runes page. Each piece can be made in two ways. In a crafting table the Wizard piece, the rune and the essence are placed in any arrangement. In a smithing table the rune is the template, the essence is the addition and the Wizard piece is the base.

Each piece adds the same base protection, and the armor values are the same across all eight sets. The helmet gives 3 armor points, the chestplate 8, the leggings 6 and the boots 3, for 20 armor points in total when the full set is worn. The material has 0 armor toughness and 0 knockback resistance. Its enchantability is 20, and it is repaired with Magic Cloth. Each piece has 407 durability as a helmet, 592 as a chestplate, 555 as leggings and 481 as boots. Each piece is not stackable.
Each piece also adds three attribute modifiers that apply while it is worn:
- Max mana: +125 per piece, so +500 for the full set.
- School spell power: +10% of the school named in the set's name, per piece. The full set adds +40% to that school.
- Spell power: +5% for all schools, per piece. The full set adds +20%.
The school bonus is what separates the sets. A Pyromancer piece boosts fire spells, an Electromancer piece boosts lightning spells and so on. The general spell power bonus applies to every school. Casting is covered on the Spellcasting page. The sets have no bonus for wearing the complete set. Each piece works on its own, and the bonuses add up as the pieces are worn.
Chestplate spell slot
Each chestplate is a preset spell container with one spell slot. The slot must be equipped to cast the spell, and it appears on the spell wheel. The helmet, leggings and boots have no spell slot.
Appearance
The Pyromancer Robe and the Electromancer Robe show a cape. The Shadow-Walker Armor hides the outer jacket and sleeve layers of the player skin while it is worn on the chest. The mod's armor is removed from the trimmable armor list, so it cannot take armor trims.
Horror context
The Catacombs and the other horror structures in Fear Nightfall are placed closer together than in the mod's default setup. Their chests do not contain school armor, so the sets are only reached through crafting.
