The Mountain Tower is an overworld structure added by Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks. It is a single stone tower that generates on the surface of cold and mountainous terrain, and it is the main source of ice-school scrolls and ice-themed loot in the early game. Players seek it out for the chests at its base and for the scrolls and frost-related items they contain.
Generation
The tower generates in the Overworld only. Its biome tag, #irons_spellbooks:has_structure/mountain_tower, allows 61 biomes. Mountain biomes such as Frozen Peaks, Jagged Peaks, Snowy Slopes and Grove are included, along with cold and non-mountain biomes such as Snowy Plains, Snowy Taiga, Cold Desert and Tropical Jungle. The full list is in the infobox.
Placement uses the random_spread type with a spacing of 86 chunks and a separation of 63 chunks, as shown in the infobox. These values already include the pack's Sparse Structures scaling. Observed density is about 3 towers per 26 km². Finding one usually requires exploring a snowy or mountainous region.
The structure is placed during the surface_structures generation step, before plants and ores. Its start point is projected onto the WORLD_SURFACE_WG heightmap, so the tower sits on the ground at its location. The terrain adaptation mode is beard_thin, which blends the edges of the tower into the surrounding terrain. The typical footprint is 45 × 76 × 48 blocks.
Structure placement is handled by the same mod that adds Ice Spider Den, Impaled Icebreaker and Ancient Battleground. Those structures use different spacing values and biome tags, so they can share biomes with this tower.
Layout
The tower is a single prefab. Its template pool contains one element, the tower itself, with no alternative pieces and no branching corridors, so every tower has the same shape. The jigsaw depth is 2, but the only piece is the tower, so no additional pieces are attached. Pieces are kept within 20 blocks of the start point.
A processor applied when the tower is placed changes some stone bricks at random: about 20% become cracked stone bricks, and about 20% become mossy stone bricks.
Inhabitants
No mobs are placed by the tower's worldgen data, and no spawners were found in the structure. Any mobs that appear near a tower come from the surrounding biome's spawn rules. The Ice Spider is not part of this structure; it appears in its own Ice Spider Den structure.
Loot
The tower's main chest table is the best source of loot. Its most valuable entry is the ice-school scroll, which is rolled 1–2 times per chest with a randomized spell quality. The table's main filler is a set of 15 rolls drawn from
Arcane Essence,
Frozen Bone (the heaviest weight in that group), paper, rabbit stew and amethyst shards. Each chest also has a 30% chance to contain a furled map and a separate 30% chance to contain a basic curio set, and it always contains one goat horn.
A second chest table, ice_barrel, is defined alongside the tower. It contains ice-school scrolls, an affinity ring with a chance of an ice enhancement, a frostward ring, snowballs and ice blocks.
The generated tables below list the full loot for the tower's chests.

Tips
Look for the tower in snowy and mountainous terrain, and expect to explore a wide area. The tower's scrolls are all ice-school, so they are useful for players who want Ice Spells. The random-chance entries mean one chest may hold a furled map or curio set while the next does not, so check every chest before leaving.
