The Auroral Garden is a cold overworld biome added by Biomes O' Plenty. It is a snowy forest of rainbow birch trees, violet flowers and icy irises under a pale cyan sky. Its temperature of -0.25 and snowfall set it apart from the temperate forests around it. The biome spawns a mix of undead, sheep and foxes, and it is a place to cross carefully at night.

Description

The biome has a pale palette. Its grass colour is #dbfcfc, its foliage colour is #a5f7f7 and its fog colour is #f0fdfd. The sky is #bdecfc, and the water is a deep blue, #3938c9, which stands out against the light surroundings. The biome uses the Magical music track.

The trees are rainbow birch, with pastel leaves. The default tree is a rainbow birch. Large rainbow birch trees are the most common pick. Oak bushes, small fir trees and full fir trees also appear, each with a fixed chance. Each chunk gets ten tree placement attempts, with a 20% chance of one extra.

Ground cover includes violet flowers, icy irises and grass patches. Glow lichen, brown mushrooms and red mushrooms also generate here. Snow falls on the biome, and a freeze top layer forms on the surface.

Generation

The Auroral Garden is an overworld biome with a temperature of -0.25 and a downfall of 0.5. In Fear Nightfall it covers about 0.24% of the land surface. Its cave share is about 0.01% of the cave layer at y = -30.

The biome is tagged as cold, snowy, dense vegetation and magical in the common tag sets. It is not on the pack's list of biomes given 6× horror weight, so it does not receive the extra horror structures or mob weighting that apply to that list.

Snow foxes and white rabbits spawn here through the vanilla biome tags, and cold-variant frogs can spawn in it. Its villager type is snow.

Features

  • Trees: rainbow birch, with large rainbow birch trees most common.
  • Flowers and plants: violet flowers, icy irises and grass patches.
  • Ores: the standard vanilla ore set, plus Black Argillite and the ore features added by Born in Chaos (infected diamond ore), a sulfur ore feature from Butchery, and a mithril ore feature from Iron's Spellbooks.
  • Other: cave urns from Supplementaries, lava lakes and springs.

Mobs and structures

The biome spawns mostly undead. Ghouls, revenants and slime golems have the highest monster weights (25 each), followed by skeleton creepers (20) and necromancers (18). Dread hounds, nightmares, bloody gadflies and dark vortices have weight 7. The rarest monsters, such as krampuses, lifestealers and supreme bonescallers, have weight 1.

Passive mobs are sheep (weight 12) and foxes (weight 8), with shima enagas as a rare creature. Water spawns include corpse fish, glutton fish and a range of ambient fish such as bluegill and perch.

About 186 structures can generate in the Auroral Garden, including many from Born in Chaos, Graveyard and Nova Structures. The generated table below lists the mobs and structures with their spawn weights.

Tips

  • Carry a light source at night. The monster weights are high across many types.
  • Look for Black Argillite and the infected diamond ore from Born in Chaos when mining here.
  • Sheep and foxes spawn here as well as undead, so check what is nearby before fighting.
