Crypts (Dungeons and Taverns) are two tomb structures added by the Dungeons and Taverns mod. The Creeping Crypt is a ruined stone tomb built on the surface of taiga and forest biomes. The Undead Crypt is a buried tomb of spawner rooms placed in ruin biomes. The pack counts both as horror structures, and both are dangerous because of the mobs and spawners inside them, which are mostly skeletons, zombies, spiders and creepers.

Generation

Both crypts use random-spread placement with a spacing of 106 chunks. The Creeping Crypt has a separation of 10 chunks and the Undead Crypt has a separation of 21 chunks, which sets the minimum gap between instances of each structure. Both are rare: a 26 km² survey of the pack's world found no instance of either structure.

The Creeping Crypt generates on the surface. Its start is placed on the world surface heightmap. It can appear in any of 24 taiga-type and forest biomes, including Taiga, Pine Taiga, Boreal Taiga, Siberian Taiga, Dead Forest, Old Growth Dead Forest and Moonlight Grove. From outside, it appears as a stone-brick structure with a house-shaped entrance and a staircase leading down into the rooms.

The Undead Crypt generates underground. Its start is placed at Y 0 rather than on the surface, so it is found by mining or by exploring caves. It uses the pack's stronghold-related ruin biome tag, which covers 136 biomes including Plains, Forest, Dark Forest, Taiga, Snowy Taiga, Tundra and Redwood Forest.

Layout

The Creeping Crypt is built from an entry section, which is a hall, a house or a staircase, followed by a chain of rooms joined by hallways and stairs. The rooms are built from stone bricks, polished andesite and granite, and include cobwebs, candles, redstone torches and skeleton skulls. Some rooms hold a spawner, and some hold a vault with its own loot table. Rooms also contain decorated pots and suspicious gravel. Suspicious gravel can be brushed with a brush to produce archaeology loot.

The Undead Crypt is built from bone blocks, mossy cobblestone and mossy stone bricks, with cobwebs and red candles. Three spawner room variants contain a spawner each, and other rooms contain standard mob spots. When the crypt generates, about 60% of its decorated pots are removed.

Inhabitants

The Creeping Crypt places creepers, skeletons, spiders, zombies and cave spiders in its rooms. Skeleton spots include a bow, and some spots are left empty. Spawners in its rooms spawn mobs continuously until they are destroyed. The Creeping Crypt has no boss.

The Undead Crypt places skeletons, zombies and spiders. Its spawner rooms contain spawners that are set to skeletons, zombies or spiders. Its standard rooms hold the same three mob types. The crypt has no boss.

Loot

The best loot is in the Creeping Crypt vault, which has a separate loot table with diamonds, gold and iron ingots, iron armour, and blocks of emerald, redstone, gold and iron. The Creeping Crypt also has a grave chest and a hallway chest, and the hallway chest has the highest emerald chance. The Undead Crypt has one chest type, the grave chest, which includes name tags and enchanted books. Pack changes add loot from other mods to these chests, so the tables below list more items than the mod alone.

Tips

Bring armour and a sword, since spawners in the rooms keep spawning mobs until they are destroyed. Brush the suspicious gravel in the Creeping Crypt for archaeology loot. Deal with nearby spawners before looting a vault, since the mobs they produce will follow you there. Expect the Undead Crypt to be underground, so light the way down before you enter.
