Poppy Fields is an overworld biome added by Regions Unexplored. It is a temperate, rainy grassland covered in red and pink poppies, and it is one of the places where the mod's flower plants can be harvested for dye and suspicious stew. In Fear Nightfall it is also a dangerous biome: its monster spawn list is long and includes many horror mobs, and many of its structures belong to horror mods.
Description
Poppy Fields has a warm, moist climate with a temperature of 0.7 and a downfall of 0.5, and it has rain rather than snow. The grass is a bright green (#84c445), the foliage a darker green (#73a538), and the water a deep blue (#3f76e4). Fog is pale blue (#c0d8ff) and the sky is a clear blue (#79a6ff). The biome uses the forest music track and plays the cave ambience every 6000 ticks.
The ground is mostly ordinary grass, with flower patches scattered across it. Poppy patches are dense in some areas and sparse in others, following a flower density noise, so the field looks like open meadow with clusters of flowers rather than a uniform carpet.
Generation
In Fear Nightfall, Poppy Fields covers 0.23% of the surface land, which makes it one of the rarest biomes in the pack. It is about 0.02% of the cave layer at y = -30. Its climate is temperate, so it borders the other mild grasslands and forests rather than deserts or snowy peaks.
In the mod's default setup, Poppy Fields replaces part of the vanilla sunflower plains and flower forest biomes. The pack's biome table sets its actual share, and the figure above is the one that applies to a Fear Nightfall world.
Poppy Fields has no horror weighting of its own. It is not one of the biomes given 6× weight, so it is not a horror biome in the pack's sense. Its monster list does include several horror mobs, and its structures include some of the pack's horror structures, which is why it still counts as dangerous at night.
Features
Poppy Fields is defined mainly by its flowers and trees.
- Poppy patches. Patches contain poppy flowers, poppy bushes, salmon poppies and salmon poppy bushes, placed with a noise that mixes the four types. Poppy bushes are the source of red dye: a single poppy bush crafts into one red dye. Salmon poppy bushes give pink dye when crafted with the salmon poppy.
- Suspicious stew. Salmon poppy and poppy bush both give suspicious stew the Weakness effect for 3 seconds. See Flower Effects and Suspicious Stew for the full list.
- Magnolia trees. Magnolia trees grow with a 1-in-15 chance per placement attempt, and magnolia shrubs with a 1-in-4 chance. Magnolia logs and wood are sold in the mod's Magnolia Wood set.
- Ores. The biome uses the standard vanilla ore placements for coal, copper, iron, gold, lapis, redstone, diamond (including buried, medium and large variants), along with andesite, diorite, granite, gravel, dirt and tuff. Several mods add their own ores here too, including Born in Chaos infected diamond ore, Butchery sulfur ore and Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks mithril ore.
- Crops and decoration. The biome has wild carrot and wild onion patches from Farmer's Delight, wild flax and cave urns from Supplementaries, pumpkin and sugar cane patches from vanilla, and road signs from Supplementaries.
- Flammability. The mod's flower and plant blocks are registered as flammable, so fire can spread through a poppy patch.
Mobs and structures
Poppy Fields has a large monster spawn list. Spiders, skeletons, creepers and slimes have the highest weights, followed by zombies. Among the horror mobs, Nightmare, Dread Hound and Mr. Pumpkin are common, while Krampus, Lifestealer and the Supreme Bonescaller are rare. Passive animals (sheep, pigs, chickens, cows, horses, ferrets, wolves and donkeys) also spawn here, and wolves use the chestnut variant. Water creatures include Corpse Fish, Glutton Fish and a range of fish. The full list with weights is in the tables below.
Structures generated here include the Graveyard, Born in Chaos buildings, an Illager hideout, Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks catacombs and an evoker fort, as well as farmsteads, castles, towers and village variants from several mods. Graveyard and Born in Chaos structures are among the horror structures that Fear Nightfall places closer together, so a player exploring this biome will meet them more often than the biome's share of land suggests.

Tips
- Carry a light source and a sword at night. The monster spawn list is long, and horror mobs such as Nightmare and Dread Hound spawn here.
- Collect poppy bushes for red dye if you need it. A single poppy bush crafts into one red dye.
- Keep torches and campfires away from the flower patches when you build a base, since the flowers burn readily.
- Diamond is common here, and the biome also holds infected diamond ore from Born in Chaos.
- Approach the Graveyard and Born in Chaos structures with care at night, since their mobs are among the horror mobs this biome can spawn.
