Mauve Hills (Removed) is a rainy, flower-filled forest biome added by Regions Unexplored. It is one of the mod's fourteen retired biomes. The biome is registered and its data is complete, but it is not placed in the Fear Nightfall overworld, so a player cannot find it through normal exploration. Its terrain, colours and mob tables are still defined, and they describe a horror-leaning forest that would be dangerous after dark if it were ever enabled.

Its terrain is built from the same wisteria grove features as the live Wisteria Grove biome.

Description

Mauve Hills has a temperature of 1.1 and a downfall of 0.85. It rains rather than snows. Its grass is a muted green (#72b788), its foliage a lavender-mauve (#adaaff) and its water a dark teal (#54a179). The fog is pale blue (#c0d8ff) and the sky a clear blue (#76a8ff).

The biome is tagged as a flower forest and a deciduous forest. Its trees come from the Wisteria Grove tree groups, with shrub groups and sparse short grass on the ground. Flower patches are made of wisteria grove flowers and tall flowers, and single aster plants are scattered among them.

Generation

Mauve Hills is not in the overworld biome table of Fear Nightfall, so it does not generate in a standard world. The mod hides retired biomes from the world-creation biome list and does not place them by default. Vanilla structure tags and Regions Unexplored surface rules still refer to it, but those references have no effect while the biome is not placed.

Enabling the biome would require changing the mod's biome placement configuration. The pack does not make that change, and the result of doing so has not been tested.

Features

  • Trees: Wisteria Grove tree groups.
  • Shrubs and ground cover: wisteria grove shrub groups and sparse short grass.
  • Flowers: wisteria grove flower patches, tall wisteria grove flowers and single asters.
  • Crops and plants: pumpkin patches and sugar cane patches from vanilla.
  • Supplementaries: cave urns, road signs and wild flax.
  • Critters and Companions: silk cocoons, both on the ground and hanging from branches.
  • Stonycliffs: the cliff feature from the Stonycliffs mod.
  • Ores: the standard overworld ore placements from vanilla, with several modded ore placements added by Born in Chaos, Butchery and Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks. Diamond, coal, copper, iron, gold, lapis, redstone, andesite, diorite, granite, gravel and tuff are all placed in the usual layers.

Because the biome is not placed in Fear Nightfall, none of these features is generated in a normal world.

Mobs and structures

The generated tables below give the spawn weights for each category. Spiders, skeletons, creepers and slimes each have a monster weight of 100, the highest in the biome, followed by zombies at 95. The horror mobs are the pack's theme for this biome. The heaviest of them are Slime Golems (weight 25), Necromancers (18), Decaying Zombies (15), Zombie Fishermen (15) and Dread Hounds (7). Rarer entries include Mr. Pumpkin, Krampus and Restless Spirits.

Passive spawns are led by Crows (weight 20), with sheep, pigs and chickens (12, 10 and 10). Ambient spawns include Ladybugs, bats and Leaf Insects. The water tables contain fish, Corpse Fish and glow squid.

The structure table lists 145 structures that are allowed to generate in the biome. The structures are a mix of vanilla-style houses, camps, towers and ruins from several pack mods, together with horror sites such as catacombs, dark towers and mausoleums. Because the biome is not placed, none of them generates in a normal world.

Tips

  • Do not plan a trip to find Mauve Hills in a standard Fear Nightfall world. The spawn tables describe what the biome would contain if it were enabled.
  • For a live biome with the same wisteria terrain and flower forest character, see Wisteria Grove.
  • If the biome is ever enabled, treat it as a night-time horror biome. Slime Golems, Necromancers and Dread Hounds are among the most likely horror spawns, so bring a ranged weapon and light the area before dark.
