Ashen Wood is a wood block added by Regions Unexplored. It is the wood form of the Ashen Log, the trunk block of the Ashen tree, which grows in Ashen Woodland. Ashen Wood is one of the 23 wood sets that Regions Unexplored adds to the game, and it is the wood of the ashen family of blocks: a log, a wood block, stripped versions, and the planks, stairs, slabs, fences, doors and other blocks of the set. The wood block has an axis orientation and can be placed along the x, y or z axis.
In Fear Nightfall, Ashen Woodland is weighted 6× in the biome selection, so Ashen Wood is common in the horror forests of the pack. The same biome is home to the Ashen, a hostile zombie-type mob that does not burn in sunlight.
Obtaining
Ashen Wood is obtained by crafting it from Ashen Log. Ashen Logs come from the Ashen tree, which generates in Ashen Woodland through the biome's tree group. The tree has a minimum trunk height of 12 blocks with a size variation of 5, and its trunk is built from Ashen Log blocks with dead branches and Ashen Leaves.
Breaking Ashen Wood in the world drops the block itself.
Crafting
Four Ashen Log blocks arranged in a 2×2 square craft three Ashen Wood blocks. Ashen Log is the only input for this recipe. Ashen Log can also be crafted into Dead Planks, as shown in the recipe grid below.

3Usage
Ashen Wood is a building block. It has a hardness of 2 and a blast resistance of 2, and it is mined fastest with an axe. It is flammable. It has no fuel value; only Ashen Log is a fuel, at 1.5 items.
Ashen Wood strips to dead stripped wood. Regions Unexplored adds this entry to the vanilla stripping map, so an axe used on the block gives the dead stripped wood block rather than an ashen stripped block.
In Fear Nightfall, Ashen Woodland is one of the biomes given 6× weight, and the pack's horror structures are placed about 30% closer together. Ashen Wood is therefore a practical material for horror builds in these forests, but the Ashen mob also spawns in the same biome, so builds there need protection at night.
