Cacti (Regions Unexplored) are three desert plant blocks added by Regions Unexplored: the Saguaro Cactus, the Barrel Cactus and the Saguaro Cactus Flower. They are the mod's desert counterparts to the vanilla cactus. The saguaro cactus is a multi-block tree-like plant that generates in the Saguaro Desert and in badlands, the barrel cactus is a single block that grows on sand, and the saguaro cactus flower is a sapling-type block that can grow into new saguaro cacti and yields a magenta dye. The Barrel Cactus is the only one of the three that damages entities, so players walking through a patch of barrel cacti take damage in the same way as touching a vanilla cactus.
Obtaining
Saguaro Cactus is generated as a tree-type feature. It is placed by the Saguaro Desert biome group and by the badlands_saguaros vanilla-change toggle, which adds saguaros to the vanilla Badlands biomes at a rarity filter of 1 in 50 per placement attempt. The saguaro tree has a minimum trunk size of 7 blocks with a size variation of 2. Its trunk is saguaro cactus blocks, and its branches are redwood branch blocks.
Barrel Cactus is a single-block feature. It can only be placed on the sand tag, Sandstone or Red Sandstone, and it only survives on those blocks.
Saguaro Cactus Flower is the foliage of the saguaro cactus tree feature. It is also a sapling-type block that can be placed by hand on sand, a saguaro cactus or a vanilla cactus. On a random tick, the sapling advances toward becoming a tree when the light level directly above it is at least 9 and a 1 in 7 roll succeeds, provided that the block below is sand.
Usage
Each block in this family behaves differently:
- Barrel Cactus deals 0.25 damage to any entity inside its block space, using the cactus damage source. Its collision shape is 12 pixels wide and 13 pixels tall, inset 2 pixels from each horizontal edge.
- Saguaro Cactus is a plain block with 2 hardness and 2 blast resistance. It has seven shape states (
cactus_shape): an upright trunk, a straight horizontal arm, or an arm that bends upward toward one of four sides. Its shape is recalculated from neighbouring saguaro blocks whenever a neighbour changes, and a newly placed block takes its shape from the face it was clicked on. - Saguaro Cactus Flower has 0 hardness and 0 blast resistance, is flammable, and burns for 0.5 items as fuel. It is compostable with a 30% chance to raise the compost level. It belongs to the vanilla saplings item tag and to the flower box plantable tag, so flower boxes can hold it.
The Barrel Cactus is compostable with a 40% chance. Both the Barrel Cactus and the Saguaro Cactus can be smelted into green dye.
