The Bioshrooms are a family of fungal plants added by Regions Unexplored in four colours: blue, green, pink and yellow. Each colour has a short mushroom, a tall two-block variant, a block form, glowing block forms, and a full wood set made from stems and hyphae. The short mushrooms behave like saplings: they grow into giant fungal trees, and they can be used to make suspicious stew.
The short and tall mushrooms and the glowing blocks emit light (level 10 for the mushrooms, level 15 for the glowing blocks). The mushrooms are compostable (35% for the short mushrooms, 65% for the tall ones) and are tagged as food and bait for several animal mods. Every bioshroom block is flammable, and the short and tall mushrooms can be placed in a flower pot.
Obtaining
Bioshrooms generate naturally as cave vegetation in Bioshroom Caves, a cave biome that replaces Lush Caves where erosion is above 0.3. They can also be crafted from one another, as described below.
Crafting
8 more recipes
Crafting follows a chain:
- Two short mushrooms of one colour make one tall mushroom of that colour, and a tall mushroom breaks back into two short ones.
- Four short mushrooms make one bioshroom block.
- Four bioshroom blocks plus one glowstone make four glowing bioshroom blocks.
- Four short mushrooms of one colour make one bioshroom block.
Usage
Growing into trees
The short mushrooms are sapling blocks, so they grow on a random tick under the same light rules as vanilla saplings. Each colour uses its own tree grower:
- Blue, green and pink grow into giant bioshroom trees.
- Yellow grows into a large yellow bioshroom tree.
Bonemeal only works on a short mushroom when the block below it is in the regions_unexplored:bioshroom_grow_block tag, which contains dirt and nylium. Both short and tall mushrooms can only be placed on a solid block.
Suspicious stew
A short bioshroom can be used as the flower in suspicious stew. Each colour gives Poison for 10 seconds. See Flower Effects and Suspicious Stew for how this compares with other flowers.
Ambient particles
Short and tall mushrooms periodically release floating spores of their own colour into the air around them. The glowing blocks drop falling spores of their colour: blue and green glowing blocks do so on about 5% of client ticks, and pink and yellow ones on about 25%.
Advancements
- Mycologist is earned by collecting one of each bioshroom type.
- Ancient Specimens is earned by collecting every bioshroom stem.

Items
Each colour has the same set of blocks, with the same stats.
- Short mushrooms (blue, green, pink, yellow) are the sapling-type plant, and are broken with an axe.
- Tall mushrooms are two blocks high and can be broken with any tool.
- Bioshroom blocks are solid blocks with a hardness of 0.6, and are broken with a hoe or axe.
- Glowing bioshroom blocks emit light level 15 and have the same hardness as the plain blocks.
- Stems, hyphae and wood sets make up a full wood set for each colour, with the same kinds of blocks a tree has: planks, stairs, slabs, fences, fence gates, doors, trapdoors, buttons, pressure plates, signs and hanging signs.
