Bioshroom Caves is an underground biome added by Regions Unexplored. It replaces the vanilla Lush Caves biome in humid, eroded cave areas, and it is the cave biome built around the mod's Bioshrooms. In Fear Nightfall it is one of the cave biomes that share the cave layer. It is dark and enclosed, and it has a long list of hostile mobs, so a player who enters it without light or a plan can meet several of them at once.
Description
The biome is a cave with no open sky. Its floor is viridescent nylium over stone. Near the bottom of the biome the surface rule shifts to a deepslate variant: stone is used at y=8 and above, deepslate at y=0 and below, with a gradient between. The biome uses the vanilla cave, cave_extra_underground and canyon carvers, so its passages connect to the rest of the cave network.
The colours are cool and damp. The grass tint is #56ba5e, the foliage tint is #56ba8f, the water tint is #3f76e4, the fog is #c0d8ff and the sky tint is #6eb1ff. The biome plays the vanilla cave ambient sound and the Lush Caves music.
The look of the biome comes from the Bioshrooms. Their fungal trees and patches cover the cave floor. Bioshroom trees use the mod's stems and hyphae as trunks, so they look like giant fungi. Short grass and tall grass patches, glow lichen, brown and red mushroom patches, sugar cane and pumpkin patches fill the spaces between them.
Generation
Bioshroom Caves is a cave biome, so it is found underground. Its climate is warm and humid, with a temperature of 1.25 and a downfall of 0.9, and its precipitation is rain.
Regions Unexplored places it as a toggled addition. It replaces Lush Caves wherever the erosion value is above 0.3. It carries the cave tags and the stronghold-biased tag, so the biome can be chosen by stronghold placement.
In the generated cave layer the biome has a share of 0.81% at y=-30. Fear Nightfall lowers the vanilla Lush Caves weight to one third and lets the other cave biomes share its humid range. Bioshroom Caves is not one of the biomes given 6× weight in the pack's horror tuning.
Features
- Bioshroom trees. A group of tree placements with a foliage placer named Bioshroom. The trunks are the stems and hyphae from the four bioshroom wood sets (blue, green, pink and yellow).
- Bioshroom patches. Patches of blue and green bioshrooms, each with weight 7, and pink bioshroom patches. These patches are the main source of Bioshrooms in the biome.
- Grass and plant patches. Short grass and tall grass patches, glow lichen, brown and red mushroom patches, sugar cane and pumpkin patches.
- Ores. The vanilla cave ore set: coal, iron, copper, gold, redstone, lapis and diamond, including the buried, medium and large diamond variants. The biome also places the black argillite feature from Born in Chaos and the mithril ore feature from Iron's Spells.
- Liquids. Underground and surface lava lakes, spring water and spring lava, and underwater magma.
- Other. Sand, clay and gravel disks, freeze-top-layer snow, and placed features from the Supplementaries mod, including cave urns and wild flax.
Bonemeal works on bioshrooms only when they stand on a block in the bioshroom grow block tag.
Mobs and structures
The monster list is led by the ordinary cave monsters: spiders, skeletons, creepers and slimes each have weight 100, and zombies have weight 95. Horror mobs from Born in Chaos are added to the same list. The rarest entries include the Dread Hound (weight 7), Dark Vortex (weight 7) and Krampus (weight 1). Coal Golems and bats are the ambient mobs. Axolotls spawn in the cave, and glow squids spawn in the underground water. The water surfaces hold tropical fish, shrooma fish and a set of mod fish.
The biome has 97 structures that can generate in it. They include the Graveyard mushroom grave and giant mushroom, the Born in Chaos firewell, mineshafts, ruined portals and ruined beacons. Many of them are horror structures, and the pack places those about 30% closer together than the mod default, so the biome has more of them than a vanilla cave would.

Tips
- Bring a light source and expect several monster types at once. Spiders, skeletons, creepers and slimes are all weighted equally high, and the cave is dark.
- Bioshrooms can be cooked into suspicious stew, which gives Poison for 10 seconds. The Flower Effects and Suspicious Stew overview lists the other suspicious stew effects.
- The water holds the mod's deeper fish, but it also holds mobs such as the Cave Eel, so a fishing trip here should be planned as carefully as a cave trip.
