Moog's Camps is a set of four overworld structures added by Moog's Voyager Structures (MVS). They are outdoor encampments placed on the surface of most overworld biomes. Three are surface camps: the Campsite, the Fire Camp and the Horse Campsite. The fourth, the Mine with Campsite, is a camp built over the entrance to a mine. Camps are a source of early-game loot, and the Mine with Campsite is the only one that places a mob in its template.

Moog's Camps are not part of the pack's horror-weighted structure set, so they keep their normal density.

Generation

The four camps spawn in the overworld on the surface, using the #c:is_overworld biome tag. In this pack they can generate in 279 biomes, including oceans, rivers, beaches, plains, forests, deserts, savannas, jungles, taigas and swamps. Each camp is its own structure set with its own spacing and separation, so one camp type can appear in a biome where another does not. The spacing and separation values are in the infobox and the generated table below, and they are the in-game values with the pack's Sparse Structures scaling already applied.

The Mine with Campsite has the widest spacing of the four and is the rarest. The Horse Campsite has the narrowest spacing and is the most frequent. None of the four were observed in a 26 km² sample of the pack's world, so all of them are uncommon in practice. To find one, explore the open surface of a large biome rather than expecting a camp near every village.

All four camps use the same MVS placement and terrain blending (beard_thin), so they fit to slopes rather than requiring flat ground. The Campsite also sets its own rules: it cannot spawn in liquid, and it checks that the ground under it is level within a small height range.

Layout

The Campsite is built from a jigsaw with up to three levels of pieces. Its template includes chests, campfires and a set of blocks such as barrels, beds, banners and lanterns.

The Fire Camp is a single-level jigsaw built around a fire. Its template has no chest.

The Horse Campsite is a single-level camp. Its template includes a chest, and the pack also includes a smaller variant of the same camp.

The Mine with Campsite is the most complex of the four. Its upper section is a camp with chests and a villager. Its lower section is a mine entrance with rails, a mob spawner and a skull. Its template includes a side pool, so the pieces around the entrance vary from one camp to the next.

Inhabitants

The Mine with Campsite is the only camp whose template contains mobs. Its upper section places a villager, and its lower section places a mob spawner. The Campsite, Fire Camp and Horse Campsite place no mobs.

The spawner in the lower section keeps spawning hostile mobs while the player is near it. Clear it or block the entrance before looting the lower chests. Ordinary surface spawns also apply in the biome around any camp.

Loot

The camps draw from three MVS chest tables: mvs:abandoned, mvs:houses_common and mvs:houses_uncommon. The Campsite and the Mine with Campsite reference all three. The generated tables below list the items in each.

  • abandoned is the roughest of the three. It holds cobwebs, string, rotten flesh, oak planks, gold and iron nuggets, and an emerald.
  • houses_common holds basic food and materials: potatoes, bread, apples, sticks, a book, oak saplings, gold nuggets and emeralds.
  • houses_uncommon adds charcoal, coal and iron ingots to a similar mix, with bread and emeralds.

The most useful item is the iron ingot from houses_uncommon. The Campsite and the Mine with Campsite are the two camps that reference all three tables.

The pack also maps structure-mod chests to vanilla chest roles and adds modded items on top of the original loot.

Tips

  • If you need iron early, loot the Campsite or the Mine with Campsite first.
  • Expect a villager and a spawner in the Mine with Campsite. Deal with the spawner before looting the lower chests, or loot the upper chests and leave the lower section alone.
  • Because each camp is a separate structure set, a camp can generate close to a village or another structure. Check the surrounding area when you find one.
