The Rainforest is a family of hot, wet jungle biomes in the overworld. Fear Nightfall has four of them: the Rainforest and Rocky Rainforest from Biomes O' Plenty, and the Rainforest and Sparse Rainforest from Regions Unexplored. All four rain, have dense vegetation and share one hostile mob list, so they play as one biome type with different terrain. Together they make up about 1.45% of the pack's surface land.
Rainforests are dangerous at night. Their monster table includes horror mobs from Born in Chaos and Graveyard alongside the common zombies, skeletons, spiders and creepers.
The Biomes O' Plenty Rainforest has a temperature of 1.2 and a downfall of 2.0, and it rains. Its grass is tinted #a7e140, its foliage #88e140 and its water #3fdf99. The biome is tagged as a jungle and as lush, and its water fog is closer than usual. Its ground is covered with jungle-style trees, large and normal ferns, tall grass, watergrass, flowers, lily pads, and small and big dripleaf.
Rocky Rainforest (Biomes O' Plenty)
The Rocky Rainforest shares the Rainforest's climate and colours, but its terrain is a raised plateau cut by cliffs. Its surface on the cliffs is banded terracotta, light blue, cyan, light gray and plain terracotta, with gravel on the seabed. The cliff faces carry vines: the feature places them on exposed dirt, grass, stone, terracotta, andesite, granite and diorite walls. The biome has its own tree feature for the cliffs, along with ferns, sprouts and tall grass, and it has no dripleaf or lily pads.
Rainforest (Regions Unexplored)
The Regions Unexplored Rainforest takes the climate of the vanilla jungle. It has a temperature of 0.95 and a downfall of 0.9, and it rains. Its vegetation comes from the mod's own feature groups: a rainforest tree group, a rainforest shrub group, elephant ear and hibiscus patches, and moss patches with water. It also has vanilla jungle plants such as sugar cane, melon, pumpkin and grass patches. Unlike the Biomes O' Plenty Rainforest, it has pumpkin patches and no dripleaf.
Sparse Rainforest (Regions Unexplored)
The Sparse Rainforest is the thinner version of the Regions Unexplored Rainforest. It shares its climate, colours and mob list, but uses a sparser tree group, and its moss patches are the sparse variant. Its creature table adds wolves, which the dense Regions Unexplored Rainforest lacks.
Generation
Rainforests are placed by climate: hot and humid, with the Biomes O' Plenty pair the hotter and wetter of the two sets. The pack's custom biome source places each biome in the climate cell where its original mod allows it, and same-type biomes sit next to each other, so rainforests are placed beside other jungle-type biomes.
The share of land is shown in the infobox. The Biomes O' Plenty Rainforest covers about 0.55% of the surface, the Rocky Rainforest about 0.16%, the Regions Unexplored Rainforest about 0.43% and the Sparse Rainforest about 0.31%.
Fear Nightfall does not give rainforests the 6× horror weight. The pack's horror-weighted biomes are forests, taigas, swamps and bayous, and the CHANGES list states that jungles stay mostly normal. Horror structures still generate here, because the rainforest structure lists include many horror structures, such as Firewell, Catacombs and dead trees from Graveyard. Across the pack, horror structures are placed about 30% closer together.
Strongholds are biased toward all four rainforests by the vanilla stronghold tag.
Features
The rainforests share the overworld ore set: coal, copper, iron, gold, lapis, redstone, diamond (including buried, medium and large diamond veins), andesite, diorite, granite, tuff, dirt and gravel. They also get the mod ores: infected diamond ore and infected deepslate diamond ore from Born in Chaos, Mithril ore from Iron's Spellbooks, and sulfur ore and salt discs from Butchery.
Plants and decorations include:
Flowers, ferns, tall grass and watergrass on the Biomes O' Plenty pair, and elephant ear and hibiscus patches on the Regions Unexplored pair.
Sugar cane on all four. Melon patches appear on the Biomes O' Plenty Rainforest and on both Regions Unexplored variants. Pumpkin patches appear on the Regions Unexplored variants.
Silk cocoons and hanging silk cocoons (Critters and Companions), which appear on all four.
Rainforests also have the increased fire burnout tag, so fire on the ground goes out sooner here than in most biomes.
Mobs and structures
The monster table is the same for all four variants: Spider, Skeleton, Creeper and Slime each carry weight 100, and Zombie carries 95. Among the less common hostile mobs are Ghoul (weight 25), Necromancer (18), the Dread Hound (7), and Mutant Creeper, Mutant Skeleton and Mutant Zombie (each 4 or 5). Passive creatures are led by parrots (weight 40). Ambient and water mobs include Leaf Insect, Jumping Spider, Coal Golem (Biomes O' Plenty only), and piranhas, which are the most common water ambient mob at weight 20. Red Panda spawns as a creature on all four.
Expect the hostile mobs listed above at night, and light the area around a base before dark. Piranhas are the most common water ambient mob here, so expect them in the lakes and rivers. The Rocky Rainforest cliffs carry vines, which can be climbed.
