Rose Quartz is a family of decorative crystal blocks and one crafting material added by Biomes O' Plenty. It comes in six forms: the Block of Rose Quartz, the Rose Quartz Cluster, three growth stages of buds (small, medium and large), and the Rose Quartz Chunk item. The crystals generate almost exclusively as hanging and rising formations in the Crystalline Chasm nether biome. The blocks emit light, and the chunk is a trim material for armor smithing.
Obtaining
Rose Quartz is obtained in three ways: natural generation in caves, crafting, and breaking the crystal blocks.
- Natural generation: Rose Quartz formations are placed by the
large_rose_quartzfeature, which is listed only in the Crystalline Chasm biome (Crystalline Chasm). The feature makes six placement attempts per chunk, each on a cave column that is empty or water at its origin. A column stretches from the floor to the ceiling, within a search range of 30 blocks. Each column is built from Rose Quartz Blocks, and clusters and buds grow out of its sides. - Crafting: four Rose Quartz Chunks make one Block of Rose Quartz. See the recipe below.
- Breaking: the drops depend on the tool and on the block.
- The Block of Rose Quartz always drops itself.
- The Rose Quartz Cluster, large, medium and small buds drop themselves only when broken with Silk Touch.
- Without Silk Touch, a cluster drops Rose Quartz Chunks. A pickaxe that is in the
cluster_max_harvestablesitem tag drops 4 chunks before Fortune is applied. Any other tool drops 2 chunks, reduced by explosions. - Buds drop nothing without Silk Touch.
Rose Quartz has no mob drops.

Usage
Rose Quartz is a building and decoration material, and the Rose Quartz Chunk is used as a trim material. The following behaviour applies to the blocks and item:
- Light: the blocks emit light at these levels: Block of Rose Quartz 10, Rose Quartz Cluster 8, large bud 7, medium bud 6 and small bud 5.
- Hardness: all six forms have a hardness of 1.5 and a blast resistance of 1.5. They are mined with a pickaxe. The Block of Rose Quartz is required to be mined with a pickaxe; the clusters and buds list a pickaxe as their tool. The Block of Rose Quartz uses the
AmethystBlockclass, and the clusters and buds use theAmethystClusterBlockclass. - Trim material: the Rose Quartz Chunk is the trim material
rose_quartz. It can be applied to armor in a smithing table. - Sound: the Block of Rose Quartz is in the
crystal_sound_blocksblock tag. - Formation rules: the feature builds Rose Quartz Blocks only into empty space, water or lava. It also builds into existing amethyst clusters. Where a formation's base sits on Netherrack, the base is turned into a Rose Quartz Block. Clusters and buds form only on a face that is free and where the cluster can survive. The formation may be shifted sideways by wind offsets when its columns are blunt and wide enough.
