Biomes O' Plenty Plants are the grasses, reeds, flowering plants, vines and small functional blocks added by Biomes O' Plenty (biomesoplenty). The group covers 23 blocks and items, from the grasses and sprouts that fill most of the mod's biomes to the two plants that hurt players on contact, bramble and tiny cactus. Flowers are listed separately on Biomes O' Plenty Flowers. The remaining members, such as Wispjelly, Barnacles and Dried Salt, are placed and mined like ordinary blocks.

Obtaining

Most of these plants generate as vegetation in Biomes O' Plenty biomes. Bramble is the exception with a dedicated generator. Its feature makes 128 placement attempts around its origin and only places a bramble vine where the block below is one that an oak sapling could survive on, or Netherrack. Each vine is 15 to 30 blocks long. It branches as it grows, and some branches end in bramble leaves.

Sea Oats can only be placed on Sand, and its upper half needs its lower half directly below it. Tiny Cactus needs dirt or sand below it. These rules limit where the plants can grow, so a player who needs a specific plant should look for the matching ground.

Trading

Biomes O' Plenty adds trades to the Wandering Trader through the config option general.wandering_trader_trades, which is enabled by default. The trader offers 52 generic listings and 15 rare listings. The generic listings are emerald trades for saplings, flowers, sand, grasses and glowshroom. The rare listings include bramble, glowworm silk, spider egg, origin grass and several saplings. The mod adds no villager profession trades.

Usage

Hazards

Two of the plants damage players who touch them. Both are a concern at night in the pack's horror biomes, where players are most likely to walk through dense vegetation.

  • Bramble (biomesoplenty:bramble) hurts players only. It deals 1.0 damage on each tick the player is inside it, with the damage type biomesoplenty.bramble. It has hardness 0.4 and is mined with an axe. The damage type is added to the vanilla minecraft:panic_environmental_causes tag, so mobs that panic from environmental damage react to it.
  • Tiny Cactus (biomesoplenty:tiny_cactus) deals 1.0 cactus damage to a player inside it. Like bramble, it only affects players.

Crafting and smelting

Cattail is a dye ingredient: it crafts into 2 brown dye. Tiny Cactus smelts into green dye in 200 ticks and gives 1.0 experience.

Compost and fuel

Most plants in this group compost at 50%, including Sprout, Bush, High Grass, Barley, Cattail, Reed, Watergrass and Tiny Cactus. Bramble and its leaves compost at 30%. Most of them are flammable. The mod sets the fire chance of its flowers and grasses to 60 and their burn chance to 100, and the fire chance of its leaves to 30 and their burn chance to 60.

Light and mining

Wispjelly (biomesoplenty:wispjelly) emits light at level 1. It has hardness 0.2 and can be mined with any tool. Barnacles (biomesoplenty:barnacles) are attached to the faces of other blocks and can be waterlogged. They have hardness 0 and are mined with a pickaxe. Dried Salt (biomesoplenty:dried_salt) has hardness 1 and blast resistance 1, is mined with a pickaxe and stacks to 64.

Fear Nightfall changes

The Fear Nightfall biome table changes how biomes are weighted across the world. Before the change, Biomes O' Plenty covered over half of all land. The table rebalances that share against Terralith and the vanilla biomes, so the Biomes O' Plenty biomes that contain these plants cover less of the world than they do in the stock pack.
