Dune Beach is a coastal biome added by Biomes O' Plenty. It is one of the rarest biomes in Fear Nightfall, covering about 0.11% of the pack's land. It is a shoreline of sand, dune grass and warm rain, and its hostile mob table is long and includes several of the pack's horror mobs, so it is dangerous after dark.
Dune Beach is a shore biome, not a desert. Its temperature is 0.7 and its downfall is 0.4, and its precipitation is rain, so the water and ground stay free of snow. It carries the vanilla is_beach tag, so mods that key on beaches treat it as one.
Description
Dune Beach has blue water and a pale blue sky. The water colour is #3f76e4, the sky colour is #79a6ff and the fog colour is #c0d8ff. Underwater, the water fog is a much darker blue (#050533), so visibility below the surface is poor.
Its ambient sound is a cave ambience that plays with a delay of 6000 ticks (five minutes).
Generation
Dune Beach covers 0.11% of the surface of Fear Nightfall's land. In the cave layer at y=-30 its share is 0.01%, so it appears underground only rarely. It is not one of the biomes the pack weights at 6×.
The pack uses a custom biome table that keeps biomes of the same type next to each other, so Dune Beach is found on coastlines alongside other beaches rather than inland. Because the biome carries the stronghold_biased_to tag, strongholds are more likely to be placed in or near it.
Features
Dune Beach uses the standard ore distribution for the overworld, with coal, copper, iron, gold, redstone, lapis and diamond ores at their usual depths. Born in Chaos adds infected diamond ore and black argillite here, and Butchery adds sulfur ore in deepslate. Iron Spellbooks adds mithril ore.
The surface and shore features are:
- Dune grass and sea oats patches.
- Wild crops from Farmer's Delight: wild beetroots, cabbages, carrots and onions, which can be harvested for food.
- Barnacles on the shore and in shallow ocean water, and wild flax.
- Cave urns from Supplementaries.
- Glow lichen, and sand and clay disks in the water and on the beach.
- Spring water and spring lava sources, and lava lakes placed underground and on the surface.
- Stone cliffs from Stony Cliffs, and an underwater magma feature.
Amethyst geodes and monster rooms can also be placed underground.
Mobs and structures
The monster table is led by the vanilla hostile mobs. Spider, skeleton, creeper and slime each have a weight of 100, and zombie has a weight of 95. The pack's horror mobs follow at lower weights: Slime Golem (25), Necromancer (18), Nightmare (7) and Dread Hound (7). Several horror mobs appear at weights of 1 to 5, including Krampus, Mutant Zombie and Spirit of Chaos.
Coal Golems spawn as ambient mobs at a weight of 20, alongside bats. In water, Glow Squid spawns in underground water, and Corpse Fish and Glutton Fish spawn as water creatures. Shallow water holds a mix of fish, including Atlantic Herring, Jellyfish and several groupers.
About 117 structures can generate here. The most notable are the Firewell from Born in Chaos, illager camps and hideouts, a bunker, beach villages and pillager outposts, a lighthouse, buried treasure and mineshafts. The full list is in the table below.

Tips
- Dune Beach is rare, so a trip to it is worth planning around its coastal position.
- The hostile mob table is long, so carry light and a weapon before going onto the beach at night.
- Underwater visibility is poor, so carry a light source if you plan to explore the shallows.
- Harvest the wild beetroots, cabbages, carrots and onions from the Farmer's Delight patches for an early food supply.
- The lighthouse and the Firewell are useful landmarks along the coast.
