The Jade Cliffs is a mountain biome added by Biomes O' Plenty. It has a cool, humid climate and is built on stone slopes and peaks, with pine trees and spruce bushes growing between the rock faces. Its mob spawn list is long and mostly hostile, and it includes mobs from several mods, so a player crossing it at night meets a wide mix of threats.
Description
The biome has a cool, humid climate (temperature 0.8, downfall 0.85) with rain instead of snow. Its grass is a muted green (#7CA568), its foliage a paler green (#8BB76E), and its sky and fog are grey-blue (#B7CCAD and #BBD1D5). Water is a deep blue (#3F76E4) and its underwater fog is a dark blue.
The terrain is stone-heavy. Its shape comes from the mountain slope and peak settings that Biomes O' Plenty uses for its mountain biomes, next to Crag. Trees are placed in groups of 25 or 26 attempts per chunk, only on dry ground above the ocean floor. Each tree attempt places a pine with a 7.5% chance; otherwise it places a spruce bush.
Generation
The biome is tagged as a mountain biome, so it generates on mountain slopes and peaks in the climate layout. In the Fear Nightfall biome table it covers 0.11% of the land surface. It does not generate underground: its share of the cave layer at y=-30 is 0.00%.
The pack's biome table gives Biomes O' Plenty about 25% of land in total, shared among its many biomes. Jade Cliffs has a small share of that, so a player will usually have to travel to find one.
The pack's horror weighting covers structures, not biomes, and the structures that generate here are the ones listed in the table below. The density changes described in Fear Nightfall apply to them as they do everywhere else.
Features
- Pine trees and spruce bushes. Trees are the main surface feature. Spruce bushes are the default choice, and a pine replaces one in about 7.5% of tree attempts.
- Ores. The biome has the default overworld ore set, including coal, iron, copper, gold, redstone, lapis, emerald and diamond in their usual layers, plus sand, clay and gravel disks. Pack additions include infected diamond ore and infected deepslate diamond ore from Born in Chaos, Mithril ore from Iron's Spells, and sulfur ore from the Butchery mod.
- Infested stone. The biome has the vanilla infested stone feature, which places silverfish-filled stone blocks.
- Monster rooms. Both the shallow and deep monster room features are present, so spawner rooms can appear underground.
- Surface plants. Patches of grass, sugar cane, wild carrots and wild onions from Farmer's Delight, cave urns, and wild flax from Supplementaries are placed on the surface.
- Amethyst geodes and lava lakes. These are placed underground as part of the standard overworld generation.
Mobs and structures
The spawn list is long. Monsters are the most common group. Spiders, skeletons, creepers and slimes have a weight of 100 each, and zombies have 95. The list also includes mobs from Born in Chaos, Graveyard, Golem Overhaul and Iron's Spells. Examples with lower weights are the Necromancer (18), the Dread Hound (7) and the Slime Golem (25). Passive mobs are rare: the panda has a weight of 1 among creature spawns, and bats (weight 10) are the only ambient mob.
Water spawns are a mix of fish from several mods, plus glow squid in underground water. Corpse Fish from Born in Chaos appear in the deep water.
The biome has about 183 structures, including ruins and houses from several mods, the Catacombs from Iron's Spells, and the Dark Tower from Born in Chaos. The generated table below lists them with their placement.

Tips
- Carry a light source and a sword or ranged weapon before entering the biome at night. Hostile mobs make up most of the spawn list.
- The panda is very rare here, with a weight of 1 among creature spawns. Do not count on finding one.
- The cliffs and pines block lines of sight. Use the water and the tree line to find a route through.
- Diamond ore is in the default ore layers, so an iron pickaxe or better is needed to mine it.
- There are no cave biomes at y=-30 here. Dig through the stone below the cliffs if you need underground access.
