The Palm Wood set is a family of palm wood blocks and items. Two mods add a palm set. Biomes O' Plenty adds a palm log, wood, planks, stairs, slabs, fences, fence gates, doors, trapdoors, pressure plates, buttons, signs, hanging signs, boats and boats with chests. Regions Unexplored adds a second palm set with the same kinds of blocks, along with palm branch items (palm beards) and a palm shrub. The two sets are separate and do not share recipes or item ids. Every item in both sets is listed in the table at the end of this page.
Obtaining
Palm trees generate in the overworld. Biomes O' Plenty palm trees are grown from palm saplings. Their trunks are 10 to 14 blocks tall and lean in a random horizontal direction, and a leafy crown forms at the top. A palm tree is placed only where there is room for the whole trunk. Regions Unexplored palm trees are placed on vanilla beaches, Grassy Beach, Rocky Reef, Tropical River and Tropics (see Palm Wood).
Palm logs and palm wood are harvested by breaking the blocks with an axe. Palm leaves drop palm saplings when broken. In Regions Unexplored the drop chance is 10%, rising with the Fortune enchantment to 15.5% at the highest level.

Usage
Palm wood is used for building and decoration. The logs and wood are crafted into planks, and the planks make the standard set of building blocks: stairs, slabs, fences, fence gates, doors, trapdoors, pressure plates, buttons, signs and hanging signs. Palm logs, palm wood, planks, stairs, slabs and fences are flammable.
Stripping is done with an axe. A palm hanging sign is crafted from two chains and six stripped palm logs.
Palm boats are crafted from five palm planks. A palm boat can be combined with a chest to make a palm boat with chest. In Regions Unexplored, a cannon combined with a palm boat makes a cannon boat. A palm beard, the Regions Unexplored branch item, is crafted from one palm log and one stick into two palm beards.

Palm shrubs
In Regions Unexplored, two palm saplings craft into one palm shrub, and a palm shrub crafts back into two palm saplings. Palm shrubs are compostable at 65%, which is higher than the 30% of the other palm parts.
Generation
Biomes O' Plenty adds palm trees to two tree selectors. In Lush Desert, a palm tree has a selection weight of 0.1, against 0.4 for acacia bushes and 0.2 for sparse acacia trees. In the tropical tree selector, palm trees are the fallback after jungle twiglets (weight 0.3) and flowering oaks (weight 0.1) are rolled.
Regions Unexplored places palm trees on vanilla beaches with a 10% placement chance where the temperature is between 0.2 and 0.55. Grassy Beach uses palm trees with a 20% placement chance in the same temperature range. Palm trees also appear in Rocky Reef and Tropics, and in Tropical River areas. Palm shrubs appear in rainforest, Rocky Reef, sparse rainforest and Tropics areas.
