Wetland is a marsh biome added by Biomes O' Plenty. It is a damp, waterlogged biome of ponds, reeds and mud, with a blue sky and dense plant cover. Players visit it for its rarity, its mod ores and plants, and the Hexerei and Born in Chaos structures that generate there. In Fear Nightfall its spawn list is heavy with horror mobs, so it is dangerous at night.

Description

Wetland is a marsh of standing water and damp ground. Its climate values are a temperature of 0.6 and a downfall of 0.7, and it has rain. The water is dark blue (#272179) and the fog is pale blue (#c0d8ff). The sky is blue (#7aa5ff). The grass is #5a935f and the foliage is #4f9657.

The ground is dirt, grass and mud. Sugar cane, reeds, lily pads, cattails, ferns and tall grass grow along the water. Toadstools and brown and red mushrooms grow in the damp ground. The biome plays a cave ambience sound and a swamp music track.

Generation

Wetland is rare. Its share of land is 0.01% in Fear Nightfall, so it is hard to find on a map. It generates at the surface only, and its share of the cave layer at y=-30 is 0%. A biome locator is the practical way to find one.

The pack's biome distribution gives 6× weight to bayous and Willow Swamp, but Wetland is not on that list. Its horror content comes from the mod features and mobs added to it. Related biomes are Bog, Marsh, Muskeg and Bayou.

The biome has 142 structures that can generate in it. They come from several mods, and many of them are horror structures.

Features

Wetland's features come from Biomes O' Plenty and several other mods:

  • Trees: Biomes O' Plenty wetland trees and Hexerei willow trees.
  • Flowers and plants: Biomes O' Plenty wetland flowers and patches of cattail, fern, lily pad, reed, toadstool and watergrass. Hexerei adds swamp flowers and flowering lily pads.
  • Crops: Farmer's Delight adds wild carrot, wild onion and wild rice patches. Supplementaries adds wild flax and cave urns.
  • Ores: The usual vanilla ores are placed, including coal, copper, iron, gold, redstone, lapis and diamond. Born in Chaos adds black argillite and infected diamond ores. Irons Spellbooks adds Mithril ore. Butchery adds deepslate sulfur ore, for Sulfur.
  • Other features: Hexerei adds a selenite geode. Stonycliffs adds a cliff feature. Clay and mud disks are placed in the ground.

Mobs and structures

The spawn tables are generated below. Spiders, skeletons, creepers and slimes have the highest monster weights. Many horror mobs spawn here at lower weights.

Structures include the Hexerei Witch Hut, witch huts from several mods, graveyard houses and dead trees, Born in Chaos buildings, and swamp village variants. The pack placed horror structures about 30% closer together and gave 6× weight to horror structures that share a structure set, so they are more frequent than in vanilla.

The pack also halved the spawn weights of Born in Chaos monsters so that vanilla monsters are not crowded out. Born in Chaos mobs still make up a large part of the monster list.

Tips

  • Find a Wetland in daylight and note the swamp villages and witch huts. The monsters here are hostile at night.
  • Bring a sword and a ranged weapon. Spiders and skeletons are common here.
  • Slimes can spawn on the surface, so watch the open ground as well as the water.
  • Harvest the wild crops and willow wood in daylight.
