The Brimstone is a dark red stone block added by Biomes O' Plenty. It is the base of a family of building blocks (bricks, chiseled bricks, slabs, stairs and walls) and of three decorative blocks: the Brimstone Bud, the Brimstone Cluster and the Brimstone Fumarole. The block is most closely tied to the nether biome Erupting Inferno, where Brimstone Buds, Brimstone Clusters and Fumaroles generate. In Fear Nightfall, Erupting Inferno is one of the nether biomes that replace vanilla nether biome space, so Brimstone is found in a larger part of the nether than in the unmodified game.
Obtaining
Brimstone is obtained by mining, by crafting from it, by stonecutting, and from the Wandering Trader.
Natural generation
Brimstone Buds and Brimstone Clusters are placed as random patches in the underground decoration step of Erupting Inferno. Small and large Fumaroles are also generated in this biome. The lava lakes of Erupting Inferno use Brimstone as their barrier block, so lava there is typically enclosed by Brimstone.
Fear Nightfall's biome distribution places Erupting Inferno in four of the nether's climate slots, which replace the vanilla Soul Sand Valley, Crimson Forest, Warped Forest and Basalt Deltas. Brimstone therefore appears wherever those slots are used.

Trading
Brimstone is one of the rare emerald trades of the Wandering Trader, which Biomes O' Plenty adds to the vanilla trade pool. The trade is controlled by the mod's config option general.wandering_trader_trades, which is enabled by default.

Usage
Brimstone itself has no special behaviour. It is used as a building block and as a material for the decorative blocks below.
- Brimstone Bud is a short decoration, 3/16 of a block tall. It can be placed only on blocks in the brimstone decoration placeable tag. It can be replaced by placing another block over it.
- Brimstone Cluster is a two-part decoration with a hardness of 0.2, which can be broken with any tool.
- Brimstone Fumarole is a block that can be placed only on blocks in the brimstone decoration placeable tag. Living entities that are not fire-immune take 1.0 damage (half a heart) each time they step on it, with the damage type
biomesoplenty.fumarole. The damage type is also in the vanilla panic environmental causes tag, so mobs react to it as they do to other environmental damage. Each Fumarole emits smoke and lava particles above it.
The Brimstone Bricks family is made from Brimstone. Brimstone Bricks can be cut from plain Brimstone at a Stonecutter, and Chiseled Brimstone Bricks are crafted from two Brimstone Brick Slabs.
The Fumarole is the most hazardous of these blocks. Because it damages on every step, a path across Fumaroles in Erupting Inferno costs health for each Fumarole crossed, and fire-immune entities are unaffected.
