The Umbran Wood set is one of the thirteen wood sets added by Biomes O' Plenty. It covers 20 blocks and items: a sapling, a potted sapling, leaves, logs, stripped logs, wood, stripped wood, planks, stairs, slabs, fences, fence gates, doors, trapdoors, pressure plates, buttons, signs, hanging signs, and two boats (one plain, one with a chest). The set's trees grow naturally in Ominous Woods, a horror biome that Fear Nightfall weights more heavily than the stock mod does.
Obtaining
Natural generation
Umbran trees generate in Ominous Woods. The biome picks one tree feature at random for each placement attempt:
- 70% tall Umbran tree
- 15% dying tree
- 5% dead twiglet tree
- 10% standard Umbran tree
The dying and dead twiglet trees are other Biomes O' Plenty trees and do not drop Umbran wood. Tree placement is attempted six or seven times per chunk (six times in 80% of chunks, seven times in 20%). Attempts are skipped on ground that has surface water.
A standard Umbran tree has a single-block trunk of Umbran Log between 6 and 20 blocks tall, topped with Umbran Leaves. The tree needs a clear 3×3 area for its canopy and a clear 1×1 space for its trunk.
Saplings and bone meal
An Umbran Sapling has two growth stages. Bone meal succeeds on a sapling 45% of the time and can grow it into a tree.

Logs produce wood, planks, and the other wooden parts of the set. Hanging signs need stripped logs rather than regular logs, so strip the logs first when crafting them.

Umbran saplings are among the rare offers a Wandering Trader can make. Wandering Trader trades are enabled by default in this pack.
Breaking
The logs, wood, planks, and other wooden blocks in the set are mined with an axe. Leaves are mined with a hoe.
Usage
The set is a complete building palette. Logs, wood, and planks are the core materials. Stairs, slabs, fences, doors, and trapdoors are all crafted from planks, so one stock of planks supports most of a build.
Umbran wood burns. Logs, wood, planks, leaves, and the wooden blocks made from them are all flammable.

Planks are the most common ingredient in the set, and most of its blocks, signs, and boats are crafted from them. Stripped logs are the ingredient for hanging signs.
Fear Nightfall changes
The pack's biome table gives Ominous Woods 6× weight, so Umbran trees are more common in the pack than in the mod alone. Horror biomes make up about 11.9% of land in the pack, up from 4.5% before the pack's changes. Ominous Woods is a hostile biome: its spawn list includes illusioners, spiders, slimes, endermen, witches, and wolves.
