Rubble is a family of surface ruins added by Terralith. Each ruin is one of six variants, and each variant is tied to a group of biomes: desert, forest, jungle, mesa, mountain and taiga. The ruins are small, weathered stone or sandstone walls. They are not dangerous and place no mobs, but they hold archaeology loot, which is obtained by brushing suspicious blocks rather than opening chests.

Generation

Rubble generates in the overworld. All six variants share one structure set, terralith:rubble, and the set picks a variant with equal weight, so each variant is one sixth of the set's placements. The set's in-game spacing is 49 chunks, versus the mod default of about 26. The pack's Sparse Structures tuning thins non-horror structures to roughly a third of their default density, and Terralith's ruins are not horror structures, so the spacing above is the one that applies here.

Each variant spawns only in its own biome tag. The forest variant has the widest reach, with 43 eligible biomes, and the taiga variant has 56. The desert, jungle, mesa and mountain variants each use 13 to 18 biomes. The structure table below lists every biome for each variant.

In a 26 km² sample of the pack's world, forest ruins were the most common, with about 10 found. Taiga ruins appeared about 5 times, and jungle ruins once. Desert, mesa and mountain ruins did not appear in the sample. The sample is small, so these counts show only which variants are common, not their exact rates.

Rubble is placed on the surface and is projected onto the world surface heightmap, so it sits on top of the terrain. Its terrain adaptation is beard_thin, which blends the ruin into the ground around it. The structures are small (a typical forest ruin is about 29 by 32 by 29 blocks). When a larger structure from another set would start nearby and their footprints overlap, the pack's overlap guard skips the smaller rubble.

Layout

Each rubble is a single-piece jigsaw structure with a size of one, which means it is one assembled template and not a network of rooms. Every variant picks one of three template sizes: small, medium or large.

The desert variant is built from sandstone walls, dark oak planks and stairs, dead bushes, a sign, and suspicious sand. The forest variant is built from stone brick walls, oak planks and stairs, vines, dandelions, brick, decorated pots, and suspicious gravel. The mesa variant is built from red sandstone walls, acacia planks and stairs, dead bushes, decorated pots, a raw gold block, and suspicious sand.

Larger templates hold more suspicious blocks. In the forest variant, the small template has three, the medium has four, and the large has seven. The large templates also include more pottery sherds in their loot setup than the smaller sizes.

Inhabitants

Rubble places no mobs, no bosses and no spawners. Nothing in the templates or structure set spawns creatures inside the ruins. Any mobs seen near rubble come from the surrounding biome and not from the structure.

Loot

The loot is in the suspicious blocks, not in chests. Each suspicious block is brushed with a brush to reveal its contents. The suspicious blocks in rubble use the vanilla archaeology loot tables minecraft:archaeology/trail_ruins_common and minecraft:archaeology/trail_ruins_rare. The common table is used by every template size. The rare table appears once in each large template, so the best loot is in the large variants.

The contents of these tables are described in Archaeology and Pottery Sherds. Decorated pots in the ruins can also be broken for their pottery sherds.

Tips

Look for rubble in the biome groups above. Check the large templates first, because they hold the rare loot table and the most suspicious blocks. Bring a brush and brush each suspicious block to get its loot. Suspicious sand is in the desert and mesa variants, and suspicious gravel is in the forest variant.
