The Warped Mesa is a rare arid biome added by Terralith. Its lavender fog, violet sky and blue foliage make it one of the most visually distinct biomes in the pack. Its surface share is only 0.02% of land in Fear Nightfall, so most players meet it only by searching for it. Its mob table is dominated by Endermen, with a number of horror mobs from Born in Chaos mixed in.
Description
The biome has zero downfall and no precipitation, so it never rains or snows there. Its colours come from the biome's effects:
- Fog: pale lavender (
#ccb6ed). - Sky: violet (
#c0a8ff). - Grass: pale lavender-grey (
#beafdd). - Foliage: blue (
#448be4). - Water: purple (
#9883d5), with a very dark navy water fog.
The ambient music is the vanilla badlands track, and the mood sound is the vanilla cave ambience, which plays about every five minutes. Carving uses the vanilla cave and canyon carvers.
The biome is not tagged as badlands. Its surface is covered with patches of cactus, dead bushes, grass and sugar cane, along with coloured terrain patches from Terralith's valley set (blue, cyan, green, light blue, lime and purple). Pumpkin patches also appear.
Generation
Warped Mesa has a temperature of 2 and a downfall of 0. In Fear Nightfall's custom biome table, it shares each climate cell with every other biome allowed there, so its share is set by its weight among those biomes. Its surface share is 0.02% of land, and its share at y=-30 in the cave layer is 0.01%.
The biome carries the rare and rare-island tags, and it is one of the biomes that vanilla strongholds are biased toward. It is not one of the horror biomes that the pack weights at six times, so it does not receive the horror boost described in the pack's changes.
Wandering traders do not spawn in the biome, and zombie sieges and patrols are excluded as well.
Features
The ore set is the vanilla overworld set (coal, copper, iron, gold, redstone, lapis, diamond, with the vanilla gravel, dirt and tuff patches). The pack adds extra placements on top: Born in Chaos adds black argillite and infected deepslate diamond ore, Butchery adds deepslate sulfur ore, and Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks adds mithril ore.
Other features unique to this biome:
- Cave urns from Supplementaries, with wild flax as a decorative plant.
- Road signs from Supplementaries.
- Cliff features from Stony Cliffs Are Cool.

The monster table is led by Endermen with a weight of 1000, far above any other monster. Zombies, skeletons, spiders, creepers and slimes follow with weights of 70 to 100. Most of the rest of the table is pack horror mobs. Necromancer has a weight of 18, Restless Spirit 10, Dread Hound 7 and Dark Vortex 7. Mutant Endermen, Skeletons, Creepers and Zombies appear at lower weights, and Krampus and Lifestealer have a weight of 1 each.
Ambient spawns are bats. Underground, glow squid spawn in water. Above ground, the water table is mostly fish, with Corpse Fish and Glutton Fish from Born in Chaos at low weights.
The biome has 85 structures that can generate here. They include:
- Moog's Sky Islands and Moog's Sky Buildings.
- Vanilla mineshafts (Mineshaft).
- Nether portal ruins.
- Village-style builds such as houses, barns, stalls, wells, campsites and carts.
- The Firewell from Born in Chaos.
Tips
Warped Mesa is rare, so it is worth planning a trip to find it. Endermen make up most of the monster spawns, so they are the main threat on the surface. The horror mobs appear in much smaller numbers, but the Necromancer and Dread Hound are the ones most worth preparing for.
