Mirage Isles is a rare island biome added by Terralith. Terralith tags it with the other island biomes of the mod, Alpha Islands, Alpha Islands Winter and Warped Mesa. In Fear Nightfall it is a rare biome with a dense hostile monster pool, so it is a risky place to linger after dark. It covers about 0.03% of surface land and 0.01% of cave space at y=-30.

Description

The biome has a teal, cyan look. Its grass colour is #2ab2c7, its foliage colour #67e6c8, and its water #a298e4, a lavender tint that sets it apart from the blue water of most overworld biomes. The sky is #c0a8ff, a pale violet, and the fog is #c0d8ff, a cold blue-white.

The surface has Terralith's enchanted trees and mushroom groups, with forest flowers, glow lichen, sugar cane and pumpkin patches. Red and brown mushroom patches are both placed. Springs of water and lava appear in the ground.

The biome's ambient sounds are the cave ambience, played about every five minutes, and the forest music track. End rod particles appear rarely, at a probability of 0.05% per tick.

Generation

Mirage Isles has a temperature of 0.7 and a downfall of 0.8, and it has rain. It is placed by the pack's biome table alongside the other mods' biomes. It is not one of the biomes that Fear Nightfall gives 6× weight, so it appears at normal frequency.

Its surface share is 0.03% of land and its cave share at y=-30 is 0.01%. Players will need to travel to find it.

Features

Terralith adds the enchanted trees and mushroom groups listed under Description, along with glow lichen, forest flowers, grass patches, sugar cane and pumpkin patches. Farmer's Delight adds mushroom colonies of both colours, and wild carrots and wild onions.

The biome has the vanilla ore distributions, including diamond ore in its regular, medium, large and buried forms. Born in Chaos adds black argillite and infected diamond ore, Butchery adds sulfur ore, and Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks adds mithril ore. Underground the biome has lava lakes, amethyst geodes, and monster rooms, both normal and deep.

Supplementaries adds wild flax and cave urns. Stony Cliffs places cliff features, and Terralith adds cliff grass at upper and lower levels.

Mobs and structures

The monster spawn table is drawn from Born in Chaos, Golem Overhaul, Irons Spells 'n Spellbooks, Graveyard and other mods. The heaviest spawn weight is the Slime Golem. The table also includes the Necromancer, the Dread Hound, the Krampus, the Lifestealer and the Nightmare Stalker, along with many undead, spider and pumpkin mobs. The full list is in the table below.

Passive animals spawn in small groups: sheep, pigs, chickens and cows. Bats are the only ambient mob. Glow squid spawn underground, and water spawns include the Corpse Fish and Glutton Fish from Born in Chaos.

About 103 structures can generate in the biome, drawn from several mods. They include Born in Chaos's firewell, Terralith's mage tower, mineshafts, and Graveyard's mushroom and giant mushroom structures. The full set is in the table below.

Tips

Mirage Isles is dangerous at night. Expect continuous hostile spawns, and build a shelter or set up lighting before dusk.

The mushroom patches and enchanted mushroom trees, sugar cane and pumpkin patches are food sources in the biome. Wild carrots and wild onions also grow here.

Water in the biome is tinted lavender. Check the depth and the surroundings before swimming, since the water holds the Corpse Fish and Glutton Fish.
