Lush Valley is a biome added by Terralith. It is a rainy, humid biome, with a temperature of 0.4 and a downfall of 0.8. It makes up only about 0.02% of the land surface in Fear Nightfall, so it is uncommon. Its monster spawns include many creatures from Born in Chaos and other horror mods, alongside the vanilla zombies, skeletons and creepers, so it is a dangerous place to be after dark.

The biome is one of the Terralith biomes placed by the pack's custom biome table, which lets every biome allowed in a climate cell share that cell by weight. It is not one of the biomes that Fear Nightfall weights six times for horror, so its weight is normal. Its horror spawns come from other mods that add their spawns to it through biome tags.

Description

Lush Valley has a muted palette. Its grass is a grey-green (#70a57b), its foliage a golden yellow (#f3b437) and its water a slate blue (#617b90). The fog and sky are pale grey (#d7d8e1 and #a5b0bd), so the valley looks overcast even in daylight. The biome uses the canyon carver, so its ground can be cut by canyons. Terralith's grass-topped cliff and slab stone features add cliff faces to the terrain. The mood sound is the ordinary cave ambience, played every 6000 ticks.

The ground is covered in grass patches, large ferns, glow lichen and flowers. Brown and red mushrooms grow across the valley, and sugar cane and pumpkin patches appear near water and open ground. Common berry bushes are also placed here. Trees are Terralith's shield trees, in regular, birch and lark variants.

Generation

Lush Valley generates in temperate, humid climate cells with a temperature of 0.4 and a downfall of 0.8. It has rain. Strongholds are biased toward it, so a stronghold search can lead a player here more often than to most biomes. The biome's surface share is about 0.02% of land.

Features

Ore generation follows the vanilla distribution for coal, copper, iron, gold, redstone, lapis and diamond. Diamond has medium, large and buried variants. Granite, diorite, andesite, tuff, dirt and gravel also generate as ore veins.

The pack's mods add their own ores and deposits here:

  • Born in Chaos adds black argillite and infected diamond ore, in both stone and deepslate.
  • Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks adds mithril ore.
  • Butchery adds deepslate sulfur ore, and sulfur and salt-disc deposits.

Other mods add plants and decorations:

  • Farmer's Delight adds wild carrot and wild onion patches.
  • Supplementaries adds wild flax and cave urns.

Water features include spring water, spring lava and lava lakes, both underground and on the surface. Amethyst geodes and monster rooms also generate underground.

Mobs and structures

The monster table is led by the vanilla spider, skeleton, creeper and slime, each with weight 100, and zombie with weight 95. The horror mobs with the highest weights are the Revenant and Slime Golem (weight 25 each) and the Necromancer (weight 18). The Dread Hound has weight 7. Many other horror mobs follow at lower weights, so the monster table is far wider than the vanilla set.

Passive mobs are sheep, pigs, chickens, cows, wolves, foxes and rabbits. Bats and glow squid also spawn here. The water has bluegill, perch, minnow and brown trout, with rarer fish such as the corpse fish from Born in Chaos.

About 166 structures can generate here. Several are village variants, including those from Luki's Grand Capitals and the taiga village builds from the pack's village set, so Villages are common in the valley. Pillager Outposts and other outposts also generate here. The valley has Graveyard, Born in Chaos and Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks structures, such as a large graveyard, an infernal pumpkin, a firewell and catacombs. The generated tables below list every mob and structure.

Tips

  • Plan trips to the valley for daylight. The monster table includes many horror mobs, and the wide range of spawns makes the night harder to survive in the open.
  • Mine the valley for diamonds and mithril ore. It has more ore variety than most surface biomes in the pack, including mod ores from Born in Chaos and Iron's Spells 'n Spellbooks.
  • Use the water for fishing, but watch for corpse fish and other rarer water monsters in the same area.
  • Sugar cane and pumpkins grow near the water and the open ground, so you can gather food and building material here.
  • Strongholds are biased toward the valley, so it is a good place to search for stronghold rooms.
