The Underground Jungle is an underground cave biome added by Terralith. It is a humid, lush cave with mud and moss floors, cave vegetation and a dense mix of ores. Its monster spawn list is heavy with mobs from the horror mods in Fear Nightfall, so mining here means expecting fights.
Description
The biome has no surface component: its surface share is 0% of land. It appears only in the cave layer, at about 3% of cave space at y = -30. Its climate is temperate and humid, with temperature 0.5 and downfall 0.5, and it rains where the cave opens to the sky.
The floor is mostly mud and moss block, and most floor features are placed on those two blocks. Waterlogged mud patches with moss caps are common. The ceiling carries moss and hanging vegetation.
The biome uses a green palette. Its foliage color is #87c059, its water color is #45be90 and its fog color is #c0d8ff, which gives a pale blue haze in the cave. Its sky color is #7ba4ff. The ambient mood sound is the vanilla cave ambience, and the music is the vanilla lush cave track. Cherry leaves drift as rare particles.
Vegetation is dense. Each layer of mud or moss receives 64 to 128 vegetation placements. Each placement is either low foliage (chance 0.75) or a tree (chance 0.35). Trees are chosen at random: a cherry tree in 20% of cases, a brown or red medium mushroom in 8% each, and a lollipop tree otherwise.
Generation
The Underground Jungle uses the vanilla cave, cave extra underground and canyon air carvers, like other underground biomes. Fear Nightfall places biomes through a custom biome table, in which every biome allowed in a climate cell shares that cell by weight. The biome appears in the cave layer and never on the surface.
Fear Nightfall reduces the weight of lush caves to one third of their previous share of the cave layer. The Underground Jungle carries the lush cave tag, so it is one of the less common caves in the pack at about 3% of cave space at y = -30. It is not one of the caves weighted six times for horror content, which include Frostfire Caves, Spider Nest and the infested caves.
Features
The biome adds the following features beyond standard cave generation:
- Lava lakes. Both underground and surface lava lakes can generate here.
- Amethyst geodes. Vanilla amethyst geodes can appear in the cave walls.
- Monster rooms. Vanilla monster rooms (
monster_roomandmonster_room_deep) are placed here. These small dungeons contain spawners. - Ores. Vanilla coal, iron, gold, copper, redstone, lapis and diamond all generate, including the buried and large diamond variants. Dirt, gravel, andesite, diorite and granite veins are placed as well. Underwater magma blocks appear among the ores, and Terralith adds an extra fungal-style coal feature.
- Born in Chaos ores. Born in Chaos adds Black Argillite as a large vein ore in the overworld, and two Infected Diamond Ore features. Infected Diamond Ore is a separate block from vanilla diamond ore, placed in stone and deepslate. The biome lists these among its placed features.
- Water and vegetation. Spring water appears in the cave. Vegetation includes tall grass, glow lichen, cave vines, ceiling moss and the mud-based waterlogged patches described above.
Mobs and structures
The spawn table below lists every monster, creature, ambient and water mob that can spawn. Monster spawns are the most numerous. The most common are Slime (weight 40), Witch (30), Slime Golem (25), Creeper (20), Skeleton Creeper (20) and Necromancer (18). Horror mobs from Born in Chaos are also on the list, including Dread Hound (weight 7), Krampus (1), Spirit of Chaos (4) and Restless Spirit (10). The creature spawns are mostly harmless: Frog (weight 40) and Coal Golem (20 as an ambient mob).
The biome can hold 106 structures. Notable ones include Graveyards, Firewell, Remnants from Dungeons and Taverns, and mineshafts. The structure table below is generated and gives the placement for each.

Tips
Light the tunnels well before mining. Monsters spawn in dark cave areas, and the spawn list has a large share of horror mobs. Mark a lit route back to the cave entrance.
Mud and moss blocks form the floor, so the cave looks flat from a distance even when it is full of vegetation. Waterlogged mud patches sit under the vegetation and can be mistaken for open ground.
Vanilla diamond ore and Infected Diamond Ore both appear in this biome. They are different blocks, so check the block name before assuming the yield.
Monster rooms here contain spawners. Clear them with a sword and a shield, and avoid fighting in the open where several monsters can reach you at once.
