The Blooming Plateau and Blooming Valley are two overworld biomes added by Terralith. Both are covered in flowers and grass, and they share most of their mob and structure lists, but the plateau is a raised landscape while the valley is a forest. Both are very rare in Fear Nightfall, each covering about 0.05 to 0.06 percent of land, so most players will need to search for them. Both spawn a wide range of horror mobs from Born in Chaos and other mods, so they are dangerous at night.

Description

Blooming Plateau

The Blooming Plateau is a plateau biome with flower-covered grass. Its surface is open grass with tall grass and plain grass patches, scattered glow lichen, and a large number of flowers. The flowers come from two Terralith features. One places allium, pink tulip, cornflower, white tulip, dandelion, orange tulip and red tulip. The other places oxeye daisy, azure bluet, lily of the valley and white tulip. The biome's trees are the vanilla meadow trees. Grass-topped cliffs and slab stone outcrops from Terralith's cliff and mountain features break up the terrain.

The biome has a deep blue water colour (#0e4ecf), a pale blue fog (#c0d8ff) and a light blue sky (#7ba4ff). Its background music is the vanilla meadow track.

Blooming Valley

The Blooming Valley is a flower forest. It uses the same flower and cliff features as the plateau, but its trees come from Terralith's flower forest set: cloud trees and small, medium and tall tree variants. It also has beach features, pumpkin and sugar cane patches, and brown and red mushrooms. The valley is a forest biome, so it counts as a forest for other mods and for the pack's biome tags. Its water colour is #3f76e4, its fog is #c0d8ff, and its sky is #79a6ff. It plays the vanilla forest music.

Generation

Both biomes have a downfall of 0.8 and rain. The plateau has a temperature of 0.5 and the valley 0.7, so both are temperate biomes in Terralith's climate tags. The two biomes sit in the temperate, humid part of the overworld, next to other forests and meadows. Fear Nightfall's biome table gives each biome a weight inside each climate cell, and same-type biomes are placed next to each other, so the valley usually borders other forests.

In Fear Nightfall the plateau covers about 0.05 percent of land and the valley about 0.06 percent. Terralith as a whole covers about 31 percent of land in the pack, which is spread across roughly 95 biomes, so each Terralith biome is rare on its own.

Neither biome is on the pack's list of biomes weighted 6× for horror. Horror structures, however, are placed about 30 percent closer together across the whole pack, and where they share a structure set with other structures they are weighted 6×. Horror structures can therefore appear in both biomes more often than in most non-horror terrain.

Features

Terrain and surface

Both biomes use the same cliff and slab-stone features from Terralith. Both place glow lichen on the surface. Both have amethyst geodes, lava lakes, monster rooms and vanilla ore distributions for coal, copper, iron, gold, redstone, diamond, lapis, granite, diorite, andesite and tuff. Both biomes have spring water, and the plateau also has spring lava. The plateau also has emerald ore and infested stone, which the valley does not have.

Pack ores and features

Fear Nightfall's added ores appear in both biomes. Born in Chaos adds infected diamond ore, infected deepslate diamond ore and black argillite. Butchery adds sulfur ore and its salt disc and regeneration features. Irons Spellbooks adds mithril ore. Stony Cliffs Are Cool adds its cliff feature, which is why both biomes have stone cliffs.

Supplementaries adds its wild flax and cave urns to both biomes. Farmer's Delight adds patches of wild carrots and wild onions. The valley also has Critters and Companions silk cocoons, both on the ground and hanging from above. The plateau has no silk cocoons.

Plants and trees

The plateau's trees are the vanilla meadow trees. The valley's trees are the Terralith flower forest trees listed in the description above. Both biomes have large numbers of flowers, the flower patches being the main visual feature. The valley also has pumpkin and sugar cane patches, which the plateau does not.

Mobs and structures

Both biomes use almost the same monster list, led by spiders, skeletons, creepers, slimes and zombies. Fear Nightfall adds horror mobs to the list, including Dread Hound, Dire Hound Leader, Necromancer, Mutant Zombie, Krampus, Slime Golem and several Born in Chaos mobs such as Restless Spirit and Dark Vortex. The rare horror mobs are at the bottom of the table, but they are on the spawn list and can appear at night.

The valley's passive mobs are different from the plateau's. The plateau has rabbits, sheep and donkeys, and the valley has crows, sheep, pigs, chickens, cows, Honey Golems, rabbits and Ferrets. The valley's ambient list also includes forest insects and critters such as leaf insects, snails and stag beetles, which the plateau does not have. Both biomes share the same underwater spawns, including glow squids underground and a set of pack fish. The weights for each spawn are in the table below.

The plateau and valley both host many structures from Fear Nightfall's mods. Notable ones shared by both biomes include the Born in Chaos Infernal Pumpkin and Firewell, the Graveyard dead tree and graveyard, the Gallows, the Irons Spellbooks catacombs and Evoker fort, Illager camps and hideouts from Nova Structures, and the Baba Yaga hut from Hexerei. Villages from the shared village sets also generate in both biomes, including the CTOV village types. The valley also has a Born in Chaos dark tower structure, which is not in the plateau's list. The full list is in the table below.

Tips

Both biomes spawn many monsters at night, so light up the area and carry a weapon before exploring. Expect horror mobs on the same ground as ordinary spiders and zombies. The plateau has fewer trees than the valley, so it gives a longer view of approaching mobs. The valley's trees block sight lines and make it easier for mobs to surprise you.

Because both biomes are rare, plan any trip in advance if you want to find one. The flowers here can be used for dyes and for Suspicious Stew.
