The Valley Lodge is a small surface structure added by Terralith. It is a timber-and-stone lodge with a storage cellar, a cooking area and a bedroom, and it holds loot in barrels rather than chests. It generates only in two Terralith biomes, Valley Clearing and Shield Clearing, so a player who wants it has to search those biomes. It is worth a visit mainly for its food, potions and drinks, which are the lodge's own loot.

Generation

The lodge is part of the terralith:regular structure set. It uses random-spread placement with a spacing of 51 chunks and a separation of 28 chunks, so two lodges cannot start closer than 28 chunks. These are the in-game values, already scaled by the pack's sparse structure factor of 1.92. Within the set the lodge has a weight of 1 out of a total of 4, so it takes about one in four of that set's placements wherever its biomes allow it. Its biome tag covers only Valley Clearing and Shield Clearing, so it does not appear in other Terralith biomes.

The structure starts on the surface of the overworld. Its start height is fixed at 0 and it is projected onto the world surface heightmap, so it sits on the ground rather than underground. The terrain adaptation is beard_thin, which lightly reshapes the ground under the building so it sits into slopes. The start point may lie up to 80 blocks from the structure's centre.

The lodge generates as a single piece with no variants, so every lodge has the same shape. Its bounding box is 29 blocks wide, 19 blocks tall and 19 blocks deep. From outside it reads as a log-and-stone building. Its most common blocks are cobblestone, stripped spruce logs, oak planks, polished deepslate, deepslate tile stairs, dark oak stairs and spruce slabs. The pack's structure changes do not name the Valley Lodge, so it is affected only by the density change that applies to the terralith:regular set as a whole.

A 26 km² sample of the pack's world used to measure placement found no lodges. The spacing figures above are therefore calculated from the placement data, not from observed counts.

Layout

The lodge has two levels. Its barrels, cooking blocks, beds and cauldrons are placed at fixed positions in the template.

  • Storage cellar (lower level, y 2): eleven barrels line two walls, six along the z = 7 wall at x 11 to 17 and five along the z = 16 wall at x 12 to 16. This is where most of the lodge's loot is. Candles are placed at several points in the template, including three in a row at x 13 to 15, z 11.
  • Upper room (y 6, west end): a barrel stands at x 3, z 13, with a smoker beside it at z 11. Two cauldrons stand at x 3, z 14 and z 15.
  • Cooking area (y 6, centre): three campfires, two smokers and one furnace form a cluster along the z = 15 and z = 16 rows at x 13 to 15.
  • Bedroom (y 6, far end): four gray bed blocks form two beds at x 24 to 25, one bed on each of the z = 11 and z = 15 rows.
  • Connections: the template has four jigsaw blocks, which mark where the structure's pieces would attach. The start pool holds only this one lodge piece.

The template has no puzzles, hidden rooms or variants.

Inhabitants

The template places no mobs and no spawners, so a lodge has no fixed inhabitants. Monsters can still appear there, but they come from the biome's own spawn list and the night spawn rules, the same as anywhere else in the same biome.

Loot

The lodge's twelve barrels use two loot tables. Eight barrels use the village taiga house table, and four use the Terralith lodge drinkables table.

Barrels with the village table draw from the same pool as the vanilla taiga village house chests. Their most common drops are rice, cabbage seeds, spruce logs, bread and potatoes. The full table with its chances is shown below.

The drinkables table is the lodge's own table. It rolls three separate pools:

  • between 0 and 2 potions, chosen from strong swiftness, long night vision and healing;
  • between 1 and 2 items from bowls, water bottles, honey bottles and glass bottles;
  • between 0 and 3 suspicious stews, chosen from stews that grant haste, jump boost, regeneration, saturation, blindness or slowness for 5 seconds each.

The drinkables barrels are the lodge's own source of potions and suspicious stew, so they are the main reason to search the cellar.

Tips

Approach the lodge in daylight, because the biomes it sits in carry their own monster spawns at night. Check the cellar first, since it holds the drinkables barrels as well as most of the food.

The lodge is hard to find. Its biomes are limited to Valley Clearing and Shield Clearing, and its spacing of 51 chunks means lodges are spread widely, so searching those two biomes is the only realistic way to locate one.
