Cabbage is a food item and growable crop added by Farmer's Delight. It is one of the four crops the mod adds to its farming loop, alongside the Tomato, Onion and Rice. Cabbage is the base ingredient for the Cabbage Crate, the Cabbage Leaf and the Cabbage Rolls, and it is used in several cooking pot meals. The mod also places wild Cabbage plants on beaches, so the crop can be gathered without farming.

The family covers six items: the Cabbage itself, the Cabbage Seeds that plant the crop, the Cabbage Leaf cut from it, the Cabbage Rolls cooked from it, the Cabbage Crate used for storage, and the Wild Cabbage plant. See the table under Cabbage.

Obtaining

Planting and harvesting

Cabbage Seeds are planted on farmland. The crop, farmersdelight:cabbages, has eight growth stages (age 0 to 7) and uses the vanilla crop random-tick growth. Its drops depend on the age of the plant:

• An immature plant (age 0 to 6) drops one Cabbage Seeds.
• A mature plant (age 7) drops one Cabbage. It also drops 0 to 3 extra Cabbage Seeds, with a 57.1% chance for each extra seed. Fortune adds further bonus rolls.

Rich Soil under a crop gives it extra growth. Rich Soil random-ticks and bone-meals the crop above or below it with a default chance of 0.2 per tick (configurable from 0.0 to 1.0, where 0.0 disables the effect). See Rich Soil and Organic Compost.

Wild Cabbage

Wild Cabbage is a small flower-like plant that generates on beaches. Each placed patch has a rarity of 1 in 30. The plant breaks instantly and is flammable. Its drops depend on the tool used:

• Harvested with shears, it drops one Wild Cabbage plant.
• Harvested without shears, it always drops one Cabbage Seeds and has a 20% chance to also drop one Cabbage.

A knife used on a Cutting Board turns one Wild Cabbage into one Cabbage Seeds, with a 50% chance of two Yellow Dye. See Wild Crops and Crates for the other wild crops.

Crafting

Nine Cabbage craft into one Cabbage Crate, and a Cabbage Crate crafts back into nine Cabbage. A Cabbage can be cut on a Cutting Board with a knife into two Cabbage Leaf. Two Cabbage Leaf craft back into one Cabbage.

Loot and drops

Cabbage Seeds are the only Cabbage item in the chest loot tables. They appear in village house chests across several biomes, and in the dungeon chests of several vanilla and mod structures. See the table below for the per-chest chances.

Trading

Farmer villagers at the apprentice level buy Cabbage for emeralds. The mod adds this trade to the Farmer's pool; see Villager Trades for the full list. The Wandering Trader sells Cabbage Seeds for one emerald each.

Usage

Food

Cabbage restores 2 hunger points and 1.6 saturation when eaten. Cabbage Leaf restores 1 hunger point and 0.8 saturation. Cabbage Rolls restore 5 hunger points and 5 saturation.

Cabbage Rolls are cooked in the Cooking Pot from one Cabbage and one Raw Beef. The recipe takes 100 ticks and grants 0.35 experience. Cabbage is also an ingredient in several Farmer's Delight Meals, including Pumpkin Soup, Vegetable Noodles, Dumplings and Mixed Salad.

Most cooked meals from the mod grant Nourishment for 3 to 5 minutes, which stops the hunger drain while the effect lasts.

Villagers and animals

Cabbage is one of the items villagers want, and it counts as a food source for villager breeding. Each Cabbage gives 1 food point. Pigs and rabbits accept Cabbage as food, and parrots accept Cabbage Seeds.

Compost

Cabbage, Cabbage Leaf and Cabbage Seeds can be put in a composter. Cabbage has a compost value of 65%, Cabbage Leaf 50% and Cabbage Seeds 30%.

Fear Nightfall changes

The pack keeps the mod's Cabbage changes to village generation. In village farms, each Wheat block in the farm processor lists has a 30% chance to become a crop of cabbage, tomato or onion, depending on the biome. Potatoes in snowy farms become cabbage or onion at 20%. Village houses also gain compost heap pieces in plains, snowy, savanna, desert and taiga villages.
