The Cooking Pot is a block added by Farmer's Delight. It is the central cooking station of the mod: it combines up to six ingredients into a single meal, which is stored in the pot until it is served. The pot must sit on a heat source to cook, so it must be placed on a heat source such as a Stove or a magma block. Its recipes produce the bowl and plate meals that the mod adds to the game, such as stews, soups and rice dishes.
In Fear Nightfall the pot is a practical part of the cooking loop that the pack's meals depend on. It can also turn up in abandoned mineshafts as loot.
Obtaining
The Cooking Pot is not generated naturally in the world. It is obtained by crafting, or by finding it in chests.
Crafting
Loot and drops
| Item | Chest loot table | Structures | Chance per chest | Avg. stack |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Cooking Pot | minecraft:chests/abandoned_mineshaft | 12.7% | 1.0 | |
Cooking Pot | farmersdelight:chests/fd_abandoned_mineshaft | 9.0% | 1.0 |
Chest loot from the vanilla abandoned mineshaft table gives the pot in 12.7% of chests, with an average of one item when it appears. Farmer's Delight adds its own mineshaft table, which gives the pot in 9.0% of chests. Fear Nightfall maps Farmer's Delight loot into the pack's chests, so both tables apply in mineshafts.
Usage
Placing and heat
The pot works only while it sits on a heat source. The pot counts as heated when the block beneath it is in the heat_sources tag, and the source must be lit. The tag includes:
- magma block
- lava cauldron
- a Stove
- the mod's tray heat sources tag
Heat can also pass through blocks in the heat_conductors tag, which are hoppers and, when Create is installed, Create chutes. A recipe may require direct heat, in which case conduction is not enough. The pot cannot cook while it is flooded with water.
The block faces north, south, east or west. It has a support setting of none, tray or handle, and it can be waterlogged.
Inventory
The pot holds nine slots:
- six ingredient slots, which accept the items of a recipe;
- a meal display slot, which shows the dish being made;
- a container slot, which holds the bowl, plate or other serving container;
- an output slot, which holds the finished meal.
When the ingredients match a recipe, the pot begins cooking. Cooking time is set by each recipe, so different dishes take different lengths of time. The pot animates while it cooks. Some items leave a remainder in the pot after cooking, as set by the mod's ingredient remainder overrides.
Recipes for the pot are shown in the pot's recipe book tab. The tab is on by default in the mod's configuration. The mod's cooking pot recipes total 28, and they are the source of most of the mod's bowl and plate meals.
Serving
A finished meal is stored in the pot as a meal stack. It is served by right-clicking the pot, which places the meal into the serving container. The tooltip of the served meal shows which container it is on.
Related blocks
The Skillet is a separate cooking tool that cooks food by heat from nearby sources. The cutting board is a separate station for the mod's cutting recipes. A lit stove also burns entities standing in its grilling area.
