The Farmer's Delight Meals are plated foods added by Farmer's Delight. Each meal is a multi-ingredient dish cooked in a Cooking Pot or assembled at a crafting table, and most of them restore more hunger than vanilla foods and grant the Nourishment effect. Pasta dishes, steak and potatoes, fried rice, ratatouille, and salads are the main examples. Because Nourishment suspends hunger drain, a meal also covers several minutes of activity without food.

Meals are served from a bowl or plate, so they are the main way the mod turns the crops it adds (Tomato, Cabbage, Onion, Rice) into survival food. The full list of meals is in the table at the end of this page.

Obtaining

Meals are made in two ways. Cooking pot meals are made by placing a Cooking Pot on a heat source, such as a lit campfire or a Stove, and filling its ingredient slots. The pot runs the recipe once the ingredients match. Crafting meals are made in a normal crafting grid, usually with a Bowl and a few fresh ingredients. Several meals take cooked meat or fish from other recipes as an ingredient, so the Skillet and Cutting Board are used earlier in the chain.

Usage

Most meals grant the Nourishment effect when eaten. Nourishment is a beneficial effect that stops hunger from draining while it is active. Each tick it resets the player's exhaustion to zero, unless the player is healing from saturation, so food and saturation are not consumed by normal activity while the effect runs. It also lets the player eat even when the hunger bar is full, for as long as the effect lasts. See Comfort and Nourishment for the full effect description.

Each meal grants Nourishment for a fixed duration:

Duration Meals
Brief (30 seconds) Cooked Rice
Short (1 minute) Bacon and Eggs, Ratatouille, Bone Broth
Medium (3 minutes) Fried Rice, Pasta with Meatballs, Pasta with Mutton Chop, Mushroom Rice, Steak and Potatoes, Grilled Salmon
Long (5 minutes) Roasted Mutton Chops, Vegetable Noodles, Squid Ink Pasta

Meals differ in hunger and saturation as well as duration. The Long meals restore the most food, at 14 hunger points, with 21 saturation. Mixed Salad and Nether Salad are the exceptions to the Nourishment rule. Mixed Salad grants Regeneration I for 5 seconds. Nether Salad grants Nausea I for 12 seconds with a 30% chance.

The Stuffed Potato is a snack rather than a meal. It has no Nourishment effect. It restores 10 hunger points and 14 saturation and stacks to 64.

Vanilla soups are affected too. With the mod's default configuration, Mushroom Stew and Beetroot Soup grant Nourishment for 3 minutes, and Rabbit Stew grants it for 5 minutes. Rabbit Stew also gets new food values (14 hunger points, 0.75 saturation) and converts to a Bowl when finished. The listed soups stack to 16 instead of one.

Meals cooked in the pot are stored as a meal stack and served with a right-click. The served container is shown in the tooltip. The Cooking Pot screen has a recipe book tab for meals, enabled by default.
