Canvas Signs are decorative signs added by Farmer's Delight. Each sign is made from canvas and wood, and carries text like a vanilla sign. There are 17 variants: an uncoloured base, which has a beige background, and 16 dye colours. Each variant has a standing form and a hanging form, which makes 34 items in total. A dye can recolour a sign. Apart from their text, they have no special function.

Obtaining

Canvas signs are obtained by crafting. The base canvas sign is crafted first, and the coloured signs are then made from it or from the other coloured signs.

The base Canvas Sign is a shaped recipe. It takes two Canvas in the centre column, four planks from any planks tag, and one stick along the bottom. It produces three signs. The Hanging Canvas Sign takes two chains, four logs from any logs tag, and two canvas. It produces six hanging signs.

Colouring is a shapeless recipe. A canvas sign of any colour, combined with one dye, produces the sign in that dye's colour. The white, light gray, gray, black, brown, red, orange, yellow, lime, green, cyan, light blue, blue, purple, magenta and pink variants all use this recipe, for both the standing and hanging forms. Each colour therefore needs only one dye and a sign in the matching form, not a separate base recipe.

Usage

Canvas signs are placed like vanilla signs, on the ground or on a wall. The hanging forms hang from a ceiling. The mod defines four block variants per colour (standing, wall, hanging and wall-hanging). The items in the table below are the standing and hanging forms. Each block has a hardness of 1 and a blast resistance of 1, and an axe is the effective tool. Signs can be waterlogged.

The sign's text is edited on a screen that the mod supplies in place of the vanilla sign screen, and it works only on the client. A server without the mod can still hold these signs, but players need the client to edit their text.

Background colour and text

The background colour decides the default text colour. A sign on one of the dark backgrounds starts with white text. Those backgrounds are set in the canvasSignDarkBackgroundList config, which defaults to gray, purple, blue, brown, green, red and black. A sign on any other background, including the uncoloured canvas sign, starts with the usual default text colour. Server owners can change this list in the mod's configuration file.

Fuel and item properties

Canvas signs are furnace fuel. A standing sign has a fuel value of 1 item, and a hanging sign has a fuel value of 4 items. Canvas signs stack to 64.

The Canvas Sign is the uncoloured base form and the ingredient for every standing sign. The Hanging Canvas Sign is the uncoloured base form for every hanging sign. The White Canvas Sign and the other coloured signs are made from these bases by adding a dye.
