Rope is the collective name for several climbable, hanging blocks and items added by three mods: Farmer's Delight, Supplementaries and Beautify. The best-known variant is Farmer's Delight's rope, which is also the base for its rope fences, fence gates and safety nets. Supplementaries adds a separate rope block used for pulleys, buntings, galleons and rope arrows. Beautify adds a decorative rope that is climbable but has no other function. Rope is common in Fear Nightfall: it turns up in many vanilla-style chests and village structures, and its climbable behaviour changes how players move through vertical areas, especially at night in the horror biomes.

• Farmer's Delight rope is made from 2 straw and yields 4 ropes. Straw is harvested from rice panicles.
• Supplementaries rope is made from 3 Flax and yields 3 ropes.
• Beautify rope is made from 3 String and yields 1 rope.

Farmer's Delight rope appears in the most chests, with a 73 to 86 percent chance per chest in its listed loot tables. Its loot tables include shipwreck supply chests, skeleton dungeons and several structure-specific chests from other mods in the pack. Supplementaries rope appears in galleon chests (52 percent per chest) and abandoned mineshaft chests (35 percent per chest). Supplementaries also injects rope into mineshaft chests through its own loot modifiers.

Usage

Farmer's Delight rope

Farmer's Delight rope is climbable: it counts as minecraft:climbable, so players and mobs can climb it like a ladder. Sneaking with an empty hand reels the rope back up, which is enabled by default.

Rope also has a few farming uses:

• Tomato vines can be grown hanging on rope, using the "Tomato Vine on Rope" variant. Tomato vines climb rope when the enableTomatoVineClimbingTaggedRopes option is on, which is the default. See Tomato.
• With Tomato Rope Permanence enabled (also the default), a tomato crop growing on rope that breaks forces a rope block to remain in place.

Rope is also furnace fuel with a burn value of 1 item.

Rope fences and gates

Rope fences and rope fence gates are crafted from rope. A rope fence is made from 4 rope and 2 sticks and yields 3 fences. A rope fence gate is made from 4 sticks and 2 rope. Rope fences do not connect to rope fence gates or to other rope fences, which is a deliberate change made by a mixin in the mod. Rope fences are tagged as c:fences and rope fence gates as c:fence_gates, so mods that read those tags will treat them as fences and gates.

Safety net

A safety net is crafted from 4 rope and can be turned back into 4 rope in a crafting grid. It has a furnace fuel value of 1 item.

Supplementaries rope

Supplementaries rope is a block with a rope tag (c:ropes and supplementaries:ropes) and a fuel value of 0.25 items. It is flammable. Its rope tag matches the rope used by Farmer's Delight and Beautify, so the two can be used interchangeably in recipes that accept that tag.

Supplementaries rope has several uses:

• Pulleys. The Pulley Block has a winding state of none, chain or rope. Pulleys move blocks with a pull limit of 8 and a pull interval of 4 ticks. Pulley elevators can generate in mineshaft corridors with a 3.5 percent chance by default.
• Rope arrows. A rope arrow is an arrow that carries rope. Where it lands, it places rope hanging down from the impact point. It stores up to 32 rope items by default, set by the capacity option, which requires a game restart to change. Rope arrows are fired from the Slingshot, and they are included in the Red Merchant's trade list.
• Sliding. Sliding down rope is as fast as free falling when the slide_on_fall option is on, which is the default. Fall damage is still negated. Rope blocks are also listed in the supplementaries:fast_fall_ropes block tag.
• Structures. The Galleon depends on rope. Turning off the rope feature (ROPE_ENABLED) also turns off pulleys, buntings, rope arrows, rope mineshafts and galleons.

Beautify rope

Beautify rope has the chain shape, is climbable, keeps open trapdoors above it climbable, and is not pushed by pistons. It exists for decoration and has no other gameplay function in the pack.
