Witch Hazel Wood is the all-bark wood block of the Witch Hazel wood set, added by Hexerei. The set is one of three Hexerei wood families, alongside Willow and Mahogany. It provides a full range of building blocks and functional blocks, and a tree that generates naturally in birch forests. Its planks are the main building material of the set, and its logs are needed for a Mixing Cauldron recipe.

Obtaining

Witch Hazel logs come from the Witch Hazel tree, which the hexerei:vegetal biome modifier adds to minecraft:birch_forest. The tree's placed feature is filtered by the Witch Hazel sapling's survival check, and it is placed on surface positions at the ocean floor heightmap with at most 1 block of water above them. Each chunk gets either two placement attempts (weight 4) or one (weight 1).

Four Witch Hazel logs craft into three Witch Hazel Wood blocks. Stripped logs and stripped wood also yield four planks each, so stripping and planking is the most efficient route to planks. Witch Hazel Wood, the log and the stripped variants all count as logs in the minecraft:logs tag, which lets any system that reads that tag treat them as vanilla logs.

Usage

Witch Hazel Wood is a building and crafting block with hardness 2 and blast resistance 2, and it is best mined with an axe. It gives 1.5 items of furnace fuel. The stripped variant has the same hardness and fuel value. Both use an axis block state, so the block keeps its orientation when placed.

The most-used product of the set is its planks. Witch Hazel planks are used in 59 recipes, including the Witch Hazel stairs, slabs, fences, fence gates, doors, trapdoors, pressure plates, buttons and signs. Witch Hazel logs are used in the Brooms recipe for the Witch Hazel Broom, a Mixing Cauldron recipe that takes two Witch Hazel logs alongside a diamond, bottles of blood, wheat, a Mandrake Root and 1000 mB of water.

The Witch Hazel slab is an ingredient of the Witch Hazel Altar and the Herb Drying Rack. Witch Hazel buttons are also used in the drying rack recipe.

Pack changes

The Witch Hazel wood set is in the vanilla wood tags (planks, logs, wooden_*, signs, boats and chests). Any other mod that keys on these tags treats Witch Hazel wood as vanilla wood. Hexerei's Woodcutter (Hexerei) recipes are generated automatically at server start, so every Witch Hazel plank, log and derived item becomes an input and output of the woodcutter.

• Witch Hazel Leaves and Witch Hazel Sapling: the leaves have hardness 0.2 and are in the herb and stick bug food tags, and the sapling has a stage state of 0 or 1.
