Satchels are a family of five portable storage items added by Hexerei. Each one fits into the satchel slot of a broom and adds extra inventory to it. The Small, Medium and Large Satchels form a tier of increasing capacity. The Ender Satchel and the Replacer Satchel are special variants: the Ender Satchel gives the broom access to the player's ender chest, and the Replacer Satchel refills a broom's brush slot when the brush breaks.

Obtaining

Satchels are crafted in a Mixing Cauldron. The Small Satchel is also the only satchel with chest loot, found in the Owl Post Office structure.

Crafting

Every satchel is a Mixing Cauldron recipe. The Small Satchel uses water, and the Ender Satchel uses lava in a heated cauldron. The recipes form a chain: each tier takes the previous tier as an ingredient. The Small Satchel needs six leather, one string and one gold nugget. The Medium Satchel is made from a Small Satchel with six leather and one string. The Large Satchel is made from a Small Satchel and a Medium Satchel, plus four string and two leather. The Ender Satchel is made from a Medium Satchel, six obsidian and one ender eye in 500 mB of lava, and needs a heated cauldron. The Replacer Satchel is made from a Medium Satchel, four dried flower ingredients, two ender pearls and a broom brush in 1000 mB of Hexerei potion. The full recipes are shown below.

Loot and drops

The Small Satchel appears in the courier package chest loot of the Owl Post Office structure, with a 14.3% chance per chest. No other satchel has chest loot. See the table below for the full loot data.

Usage

Each satchel is placed in the satchel slot of a broom. A broom holds one satchel at a time, and each satchel stores items in the broom's own inventory. The satchel tiers add the following slots to the broom, as stated in their tooltips:

• Small Satchel: 9 slots.
• Medium Satchel: 18 slots.
• Large Satchel: 27 slots.

A tiered satchel can only be taken out of the broom when its stored items are gone, so the broom's storage must be empty first. The Ender Satchel is the exception and can always be removed, because its storage is the player's ender chest.

Ender Satchel

The Ender Satchel sends the broom's inventory to the player's ender chest. When it is installed, the broom's container shows the player's 27 ender chest slots instead of the satchel slots, and opening the broom plays the ender chest sounds. Items placed in the ender satchel are therefore stored in the same ender chest as the player's own ender chest, so the same items are available from every broom with an Ender Satchel and from the ender chest itself. While the broom flies, it emits random ender particles, at a chance of 1 in 5 per tick.

Replacer Satchel

The Replacer Satchel keeps the broom's brush slot filled. When a brush breaks and the brush slot is empty, the satchel moves the first broom brush it finds in the broom's inventory into the brush slot. The search starts at the top-left slot of the grid, and the brush is moved with an ender eye sound and a particle effect. If the broom holds no spare brush, the satchel plays a different sound and nothing is moved. The Replacer Satchel is classed as a Medium satchel, so it adds 18 slots.

Crafting ingredient

Satchels are used as ingredients in other Mixing Cauldron recipes. The Medium Satchel is needed for the Large Satchel, the Ender Satchel and the Replacer Satchel. The Small Satchel is needed for the Medium and Large Satchels, and is also used in the broom seat recipe. The recipes that use satchels are listed in the table below.
