Coffers are decorative storage blocks added by Hexerei. The page covers two blocks: the Coffer, a single storage container that can be dyed, placed, and picked up with its contents, and the Entangled Coffer, a linked block that shares one inventory with the other Entangled Coffers in its group.

Coffers are an early-game item in the Hexerei progression. They are crafted in a Mixing Cauldron, and they are the storage that crows can be set to fill with items they gather or harvest.

Obtaining

Coffers are obtained by crafting. Hexerei adds no villager or wandering trader trades, so no trader sells either block. Breaking a placed Coffer drops the Coffer itself, and the dropped item keeps the stored items, custom name and dye colours of the block it came from.

The Coffer is made in a Mixing Cauldron from 1000 mB of water, four Mahogany Planks and three Gold Ingots. The Entangled Coffer is made in the same cauldron from one Coffer, one Echo Shard, two Eyes of Ender, four Moon Dust and 1000 mB of the Hexerei potion fluid holding a regular potion of Swiftness. The recipe requires the cauldron to be heated, and it yields two Entangled Coffers. Because the recipe consumes one Coffer, a normal Coffer must be crafted first. The ingredient arrangement is shown in the recipe grid above.

Usage

Coffers are placed in the world by crouching and right-clicking. A plain right-click on a placed Coffer opens its inventory. Punching a placed Coffer picks it up into the player's inventory with its contents, name and colours intact. Coffers stack to 64. They have a hardness of 2 and a blast resistance of 8, and mining them requires a tool.

Coffers can be dyed any colour. A named Coffer cycles through colours when it is renamed, and an unnamed Coffer that has been dyed can be dyed again to mix the dye colours, in the same way as dyed leather armour.

Storage rules

The Coffer's item blacklist is a config setting, coffer_blacklist. By default it blocks every colour of shulker box and the Coffer itself, so these cannot be stored inside a Coffer.

Crow interaction

A Coffer's GUI has a crow button on its right side. While the button is toggled on, crows in Gather mode, set through the Crow Help command, search the area for items that match items already stored in that Coffer and deposit them there. A crow with a perch on the Coffer instead picks up any item in the area and returns it to that Coffer. The Coffer's whitelist and blacklist decide which items a crow may place inside. There are three modes:

  • Whitelist and Inventory: the crow places items that match the Coffer's inventory or its whitelist.
  • Whitelist Only: the crow places only items that match the whitelist.
  • Blacklist and Inventory: the crow places items that match the inventory, excluding anything on the blacklist.

Crows in Harvest mode break crops and crop-like plants within a 24-block range and deposit the drops into nearby Coffers and Herb Jars. A Coffer placed beside a crop field is therefore a convenient destination for harvested items.

Entangled Coffers

An Entangled Coffer works like a normal Coffer, except that it shares an inventory with another Entangled Coffer. Items placed in one linked Entangled Coffer are available in the others, so one storage space can be kept in several locations.

Items

  • Coffer: the basic storage block. It can be dyed and is the input for the Entangled Coffer.
  • Entangled Coffer: a linked storage block that shares its inventory with other Entangled Coffers.
