The Waxing Kit is a utility item added by Hexerei that applies wax to the mod's waxable blocks and removes the wax again. It can make waxed variants of the mod's willow, witch hazel and mahogany blocks (Hexerei Decorative Wood Blocks), Infused Fabric blocks and stone windows. Each kit holds up to 256 units of wax, and it is refilled with Wax Blend in a crafting grid.

Obtaining

The kit is made in the Mixing Cauldron from water, cloth, planks and iron ingots. See the recipe table below. The kit can also be found in courier package chests in the Owl Post Office structure, where it has a 3.0% chance per chest. Courier packages are carried by owls in the mod's courier network.

A second item, the Creative Waxing Kit, is registered with the same behaviour but has no recipe and no loot entry. It has unlimited wax and is intended for creative mode.

Usage

Waxing Kit is a stack size 1 item. It holds a wax count from 0 to 256, shown on its durability-style bar and in the tooltip as "wax / 256". The bar is empty when the count is 0 and fills toward a full bar as the count rises.

Adding wax

Filling the kit is a crafting recipe, not a right-click action. The recipe needs exactly one Waxing Kit and at least one Wax Blend in the crafting grid, and it can only run while the kit holds fewer than 256 units. Each Wax Blend adds one unit of wax, and the recipe caps the total at 256.

Wax Blend is made in the Pestle and Mortar from one glow berries and one flower biproduct item. The grinding takes 200 ticks and yields two Wax Blend.

Waxing blocks

Right-clicking a waxable block with a Waxing Kit that holds at least one unit of wax replaces the block with its waxed variant. Each successful use costs one unit of wax. The kit does nothing when it is empty, and it does nothing on a block that has no waxed form. The waxed block keeps the block state of the original, including its facing, connection and colour. Waxing a connectable block such as a window pane or a connected block also keeps its connection directions.

Waxed blocks from this mod connect only to other waxed connectable blocks from this mod. A waxed window or connected block therefore will not join to an unwaxed neighbour.

The waxable set covers:

• Polished willow, witch hazel and mahogany planks, connected blocks, pillars and layered blocks, plus the connected blocks and window panes of each wood.
• Willow, witch hazel and mahogany windows and window panes.
• Stone windows and stone window panes.
• Infused Fabric blocks, ornate blocks, carpets, carpet slabs and carpet stairs.

Wiping wax

A Waxing Kit can also remove wax from a waxed block without using any wax. Using it on a waxed block returns the unwaxed variant and plays the axe wax-off sound. This works whether or not the kit holds wax, and it costs no wax.

Creative kit

The Creative Waxing Kit ignores the wax count. It never uses wax and always waxes or wipes blocks. Its tooltip shows infinite wax instead of a count.
