Scorched Wood is a block added by Born in Chaos. It is the central piece of a charred wood set that includes logs, wood blocks, stripped variants, smoldering variants, planks, and the full range of plank-based shapes: stairs, slabs, fence, fence gate, button, pressure plate, trapdoor, and door. Scorched wood is crafted from dark oak logs and Fire Light Dust. The logs and planks are flammable, and the Smoldering Scorched Log appears as loot in the chests of the Firewell structure.
Obtaining
Players get scorched wood by crafting, or by looting the chests of the Firewell structure. The structure's loot table includes the Smoldering Scorched Log.
Crafting
The first step is Fire Light Dust with three dark oak logs, which yields three Scorched Logs. Four Scorched Logs make three Scorched Wood. Eight Scorched Logs with one Fire Light Dust make eight Smoldering Scorched Logs, and four Smoldering Scorched Logs make three Smoldering Scorched Wood. Scorched Planks are crafted from a Scorched Log, and the plank-based shapes are made from Scorched Planks.

Usage
Fuel and flammability
Scorched Logs, Scorched Wood, their stripped variants, and all Scorched Planks are flammable. The Scorched Log and Scorched Wood blocks have a flammability value of 1, so they catch fire from adjacent flames. The Smoldering Scorched Log and Smoldering Scorched Wood are not flammable.
The logs, wood blocks, and planks are furnace fuel rated at 1.5 items each. The slab is rated at 0.75 items, and the button at 0.5 items.
Stripping
Right-clicking a Scorched Log or a Smoldering Scorched Log with an axe strips it into a Stripped Scorched Log. Each strip costs one point of durability on the axe, and the block keeps its axis orientation. Stripping does not produce a smoldering block.
Smoldering variants
The Smoldering Scorched Log and Smoldering Scorched Wood block light completely. Like the Scorched Log, they use a light-blocking value of 15, but they are not flammable. The Smoldering Scorched Log is the variant that appears in Firewell chests, and both smoldering blocks are made from Scorched Logs as described above.
Hitting a scorched log
Attacking a Scorched Log or a Smoldering Scorched Log produces a burst of particles at the block. The effect is visual only and does not change the block.
Tags and vanilla recipes
Scorched wood is registered in several vanilla and common tags. Scorched Planks and Fragile Scorched Planks are in minecraft:planks, all Scorched log and wood variants are in minecraft:logs, and the stairs, slabs, fences, buttons, and pressure plates are in the matching wooden tags. Recipes that accept any plank or log therefore accept scorched wood, which can cause unexpected matches with furniture or other wood mods.
Fragile Scorched Planks
Fragile Scorched Planks are a separate block with the same tags and fuel rating as Scorched Planks. They have no crafting recipe in the set and are not listed in the recipe grids above.
