The Flowering and Apple Oak set is a group of plants and tree blocks added by Regions Unexplored. It has two oak-type tree variants: the Apple Oak, whose leaves grow apples, and the Flowering Oak, whose leaves are tinted and whose shrub and sapling are used for crafting. The set also includes the Small Oak log, leaves and sapling, and the Flowering Lily Pad, which are listed on this page with the rest. Players care about the Apple Oak because its leaves are a repeatable source of apples in orchard biomes.
Obtaining
Leaves of the Apple Oak, Flowering Oak and Small Oak drop saplings with a set chance, which depends on the leaf type. The Flowering Oak leaves drop saplings in four tiers, from 8% to 12%. Apple Oak leaves use the mod's normal leaf sapling chances.
Apple Oak trees generate in the Orchard group of Regions Unexplored, which replaces the vanilla Sunflower Plains and Flower Forest biomes at weight 50. Within that group the tree selector weights are 7 for the Apple Oak, 2 for the large Apple Oak and 1 for a large oak, so most orchard trees are regular Apple Oaks. Small Oak trees generate in the Old Growth Forest group, where they have weight 4 of 11, and in the Willow Forest biome.
Crafting
2A Flowering Shrub is crafted from two Flowering Saplings. A Flowering Shrub can also be crafted back into two Flowering Saplings.
Usage
Apple Oak Leaves
Apple Oak Leaves have five growth stages (age 0 to 4). Each random tick raises the age by one while the block above has a light level of at least 9. Using an item on a fully grown block (age 4) drops one apple and resets the block to age 0. Bone meal raises the age by one stage until age 4. When the leaves decay because no log supports them, a block at age 4 also drops an apple as it breaks.
Apple Oak Leaves have 0.2 hardness and 0.2 blast resistance, are flammable, and compost at 30%.
Flowering Leaves and Small Oak Leaves
Flowering Leaves and Small Oak Leaves have 0.2 hardness and 0.2 blast resistance, are flammable, and compost at 30%. Both use the mod's tinted-particle leaves block and are broken fastest with a hoe.
Saplings
Flowering Saplings, Apple Oak Saplings and Small Oak Saplings each have two growth stages. Each one has no hardness, works as fuel in a furnace for 0.5 items, and composts at 30%. They are tagged as flower box plantable, so they can be placed in Supplementaries flower boxes.
Flowering Shrub
The Flowering Shrub is a two-block plant with a lower and an upper half. It has no hardness and composts at 65%.
Flowering Lily Pad
The Flowering Lily Pad is a lily pad block that has no hardness and composts at 30%. It is placed as a patch in wet biomes, including the Bayou and Old Growth Bayou. In Fear Nightfall's default config, the mangrove_flowering_lilies toggle is on, which removes the vanilla lily patch from the Mangrove Swamp and places flowering lilies there instead.
