The Rocky Meadow (Removed) is a warm overworld biome added by Regions Unexplored. It is one of the 14 biomes the mod marks as removed. Its registry entry and worldgen data remain in the game, but the biome is hidden from the world-creation biome list and is not placed by the pack's biome table, so new terrain does not normally generate it. Its climate, colours and features follow the Wisteria Grove biome, with stone boulders added to the surface. Players who find it in an existing world can expect the mob mix listed below, which is dominated by hostile monsters, including many of the horror mobs added by Born in Chaos.

Description

The biome is a warm, rainy grassland with groves of trees. Its climate values are temperature 1.1 and downfall 0.85, and it has rainfall rather than snowfall. The sky colour is #76a8ff and the fog colour is #c0d8ff. The grass is tinted #72b788 and the foliage #adaaff, a pale violet that sets it apart from the green of most overworld forests. Water is tinted #54a179. The ambient mood uses the cave ambience settings and the background music is the standard forest track.

Stone boulder groups are placed on the surface with weights of 1 for mixed stone, 2 for large stone and 2 for mossy large stone. The boulders are the main terrain feature unique to the biome.

Vegetation is the Wisteria Grove set: a grove of trees, shrubs, tall flowers and small flowers, asters, and sparse short grass. Pumpkin patches and sugar cane also generate here through vanilla placement rules.

Generation

The biome is marked as removed in the mod. It is excluded from the overworld biome table in Fear Nightfall, so ordinary world generation does not place it. The mod profile notes that removed biomes stay registered and are referenced by vanilla structure tags and surface rules, which is why the structures listed below can still place in it if the biome is present in a world. Re-enabling the biome by adding it to the mod's common configuration as a placement has not been tested in this pack.

Because the biome is not weighted in the pack's table, its share of land in Fear Nightfall is effectively zero. Horror weighting does not apply to it.

Features

The biome's ore set is the standard overworld set: coal, copper, diamond (including buried, medium and large variants), gold, iron, lapis lazuli and redstone, along with andesite, diorite, granite, tuff, gravel and dirt patches. The pack's additions also appear here: Born in Chaos adds infected diamond ore and infected deepslate diamond ore, along with black argillite. Butchery adds deepslate sulfur ore, and Iron's Spells and Spellbooks adds mithril ore.

Several placed features are specific to the biome's flora. Wisteria Grove trees, shrubs and tall flowers are the most visible plants. Supplementaries adds cave urns and wild flax as placed features.

The spawn tables are generated below. The monster list is the largest and includes spiders, skeletons, creepers, slimes and zombies, plus many pack-specific mobs such as the Nightmare, the Dread Hound, Krampus, Sir Pumpkinhead and the Necromancer. Passive mobs are sheep, pigs, chickens, cows and ferrets. Water spawns include glow squid and a range of fish.

Structures placed in this biome include village, outpost and tower sets, the graveyard large graveyard, and the pillager outpost sets. The minecraft:stronghold_biased_to tag also lists this biome, so strongholds are more likely to generate near it.

Tips

  • Expect a dense monster population at night. The spawn tables are weighted toward hostile mobs, and many of the horror mobs appear here alongside the common zombies and skeletons.
  • Light the area around the base before dark.
  • The violet foliage tint (#adaaff) is the easiest way to recognise the biome when travelling.
  • Look for stone boulders when mining for surface stone, since they are a regular part of the terrain here.
  • Strongholds are biased toward this biome, so exploring it is a good way to find one.
