Silver Birch is a wood set added by Regions Unexplored. It covers a log, wood, leaves, sapling, branch, shrub and leaf litter, and its trees form the canopy of the Silver Birch Forest biome. Its logs and wood are made into planks and other wood blocks like any other wood set in the mod.
Obtaining
Natural generation
Silver Birch Forest is a Regions Unexplored biome that takes the place of the vanilla Old Growth Birch Forest in the climate it occupies, with a default weight of 50. Its trees are placed in one of two configurations, chosen by weighted random selection:
- a regular silver birch tree, with a weight of 3 and a configured trunk minimum size of 4 plus a size variation of 4;
- a tall silver birch tree, with a weight of 1 and a configured trunk minimum size of 5 plus a size variation of 5.
Every tree is surrounded by silver birch leaf litter placed on the ground within a radius of 3 blocks. The biome also places fallen silver birch logs and silver birch shrubs. Its trees use silver birch logs and leaves for the trunk and canopy, and silver birch branches as side branches.
On Fear Nightfall, the pack's biome table shares each climate area among every eligible biome by weight, so Silver Birch Forest competes with the other eligible biomes in its climate instead of replacing them outright. Regions Unexplored receives about 28% of the land in that table.
Crafting
Breaking blocks
Silver birch leaves are broken with a hoe, with a hardness of 0.2. Silver birch leaf litter uses the same drop handling as vanilla pink petals, so the number of items dropped follows the block's flower amount. Silver birch logs, wood and shrubs require an axe.
Usage
Silver birch logs and wood are used as building material. Their hardness is 2 with a blast resistance of 2, and both break faster with an axe. Stripping a silver birch log or wood turns it into the vanilla stripped birch log or stripped birch wood rather than a Regions Unexplored stripped block.
Fuel values are 1.5 items for a silver birch log and 0.5 items for a silver birch sapling. All the blocks in the set are flammable. The compost chance is 10% for leaf litter, 30% for leaves, sapling and branch, and 65% for the shrub.
Silver birch leaves are a food source for the Critters and Companions mod's stick bugs and leaf insects, and are tempting items for its snails. Their block states are distance from 1 to 7, persistent, and waterlogged.

Items
Each block in the set is listed in the table below. The leaf litter comes in two versions, silver birch and enchanted birch. Each one has four flower_amount states, and both are flammable with a compost chance of 10%.

Silver Birch Leaf Litter | 0 |
Enchanted Birch Leaf Litter | 0 |
Silver Birch Branch | 1 |
Silver Birch Shrub | 0 |
Silver Birch Leaves | 0.2 |
Silver Birch Sapling | 0 |
Silver Birch Log | 2 |
Silver Birch Wood | 2 |
Tips
- A silver birch shrub can be turned back into two silver birch saplings, so a shrub is a reliable way to recover saplings for planting.
- Silver birch branches are made with one silver birch log and one stick, which gives two branches per craft. Branches are a cheap way to decorate a build.
