The Glistering Blocks are a set of Nether terrain blocks and plants added by Regions Unexplored. They make up the flora of the Glistering Meadow biome, a Nether biome that replaces part of vanilla Soul Sand Valley. The set includes a nylium that appears in the Nether surface, a hanging vine, two double-height plants that emit light, and several smaller plants. Glistering Nylium is a crafting ingredient for the Overgrown Bone Block, and Glistering Bloom can be crafted into pink dye.
Glistering blocks are found only in the Nether. Most of the set is decorative. The light-emitting plants and the vine are the only glistering blocks that emit light.
Obtaining
Glistering Meadow replaces Soul Sand Valley at a default weight of 60 in the Nether biome selection. Within that biome, the following blocks generate naturally, with counts given per chunk layer:
- Glistering Ivy — 155 placement attempts per chunk, at any height in the biome. It is the most frequently placed glistering block.
- Glistering Fern — 15 per layer.
- Glistering Sprout — 10 per layer.
- Glistering Bloom — 7 per layer.
- Glister Spire — 3 per layer, placed as a random patch of up to 16 tries, spread 7 blocks horizontally and 3 vertically.
- Glister Bulb — 2 per layer.
The Glistering Meadow also has a rock feature (the glistering meadow rock), placed on average once every four chunks. The Nether surface rule adds glistering nylium layers to applicable Nether biomes, so the nylium also appears outside Glistering Meadow.
Glistering nylium also spreads from netherrack: bonemeal on Netherrack next to a glistering nylium block copies the nylium onto the netherrack. Bonemeal on glistering nylium places sprouts and blooms in a 3-block-wide, 1-block-high area, with sprouts weighted 4 to 1 over blooms.
Glistering Bloom is the only glistering block with a crafting recipe in the mod data. Its recipe is a shapeless craft that turns one Glistering Bloom into one pink dye. Glistering Wart is not placed by worldgen, and no recipe or other source for it was found in the mod data.
Usage
Glistering Nylium
Glistering Nylium is a nylium block with a pickaxe requirement (hardness 0.4, blast resistance 0.4). It is tagged as a mushroom-grow block. Breaking it without Silk Touch drops Netherrack; with Silk Touch it drops itself. Endermen can pick it up, as they can other glistering plants and cobalt roots.
Glistering Nylium is an ingredient in one recipe: a shapeless craft of one Bone Block and one glistering nylium that produces one Overgrown Bone Block.
Glistering Ivy
Glistering Ivy is a hanging vine that grows downward. It is a growing plant head, and its body block is Glistering Ivy Plant. Its growth uses the same rules as nether vines. It has a light level of 15, the highest of the set, and a hardness of 0. It is harvested with an axe. It drops itself only with Silk Touch or shears, and it composts at 10%.
Glister Spire and Glister Bulb
Glister Spire and Glister Bulb are double-height plants. Both are non-solid, can be harvested with any tool, and have a hardness of 0. Glister Bulb has a light level of 13 and composts at 40%. Glister Spire has a light level of 5 and composts at 30%. Each drops an item only when its lower half is broken.
Sprout, Fern and Bloom
Glistering Sprout, Glistering Fern and Glistering Bloom are single-block plants with a hardness of 0 that can be harvested with any tool. None of them emits light. Glistering Sprout composts at 20%. Glistering Bloom is a flower and carries the item tags for small flowers, flowers, animal foods, flower boxes, herbs and bait plants. It is the only one of the three that can be crafted into a dye.
Glistering Wart
Glistering Wart is a pickaxe-harvested block with a hardness of 0.4 and a blast resistance of 0.4. It drops itself when broken. It has no light level and no compost value.
