The Regions Unexplored flowers are the small, tall and ground-cover flowers added by Regions Unexplored, a worldgen-focused biome mod. They grow naturally in forest, jungle, birch and taiga biomes, can be crafted into dyes, and are the most common plant decoration in the mod's biomes. Several of them do more than decorate. Dorcel damages anything that stands in it, Dusktrap is a two-block trap that holds entities in place, and many flowers apply a status effect when used in suspicious stew. Meadow Sage and Salmonberry are edible. The table below lists the 33 flower-type blocks and items covered on this page.
Obtaining
Flowers are obtained mainly by finding them in the world and breaking them. All of them have a hardness of 0, so they break instantly. Most can be broken by hand or with any tool. Tall flowers and bushes (Corpse Flower, Elephant Ear, Day Lily, Tassel, Dropleaf, Meadow Sage and Salmonberry) are best broken with an axe, and the ground covers (Orange Coneflower, Purple Coneflower and Clover) with a hoe.
Natural generation
The mod adds flower features to several vanilla biomes. These features are enabled by default in the mod's vanilla_changes configuration:
- Forest flowers appear in forest, flower forest, birch forest, old growth birch forest and dark forest biomes.
- Jungle hibiscuses and jungle elephant ears appear in bamboo jungle, jungle and sparse jungle biomes.
- Orange coneflowers appear in birch forest and old growth birch forest biomes. Purple coneflowers appear in taiga biomes.
Sunflower Plains and Flower Forest are also partly replaced by mod biomes. The Orchard, Flower Fields and Poppy Fields replace them at weights of 50, 30 and 70 respectively, so flower-themed biomes are common in the mod's world generation.
Crafting
Most flowers can be crafted alone, without other ingredients, into a single dye. The dye each flower produces is listed in the table under Crafting ingredient below. Corpse Flower, Dropleaf, Dusktrap, Elephant Ear, Clover and Salmonberry have no dye recipe.
Usage
Hazard flowers
Dorcel
The Dorcel is a flower that damages entities standing in it. Each tick an entity is inside a Dorcel, it takes 1.0 damage with the dorcel damage type. Entities that walk through it are slowed to a speed factor of 0.5. Dorcel can only be placed on the brim-plant block tag and cannot be replaced by other blocks. Its suspicious stew effect is Wither for 20 seconds. Dorcel is the only flower on this page that is not flammable.
The advancement "Downer" is tied to Dorcel.
Dusktrap
The Dusktrap is a trap block two blocks tall, with separate lower and upper halves. Any entity inside its footprint takes 3.0 damage per tick with the dusk_trap damage type and is held in place. While occupied, the block emits a redstone signal of strength 15 to adjacent blocks. The signal reacts to all entities. After the trap is vacated, the signal returns to 0 after a closed timer. Dusktrap can be broken with any tool.
Suspicious stew effects
Flowers used in suspicious stew give the effect shown below, for the duration in seconds.
- Jump Boost: Waratah (5 s), Hibiscus (6 s)
- Speed: Daisy and Felicia Daisy (8 s each)
- Haste: White Trillium (7 s)
- Mining Fatigue: Mallow (4 s), Wilting Trillium (10 s)
- Nausea: Aster (10 s)
- Poison: Bleeding Heart (9 s)
- Glowing: Fireweed (2 s)
- Saturation: all Lupines (4 s)
- Weakness: Salmon Poppy and Poppy Bush (3 s each)
- Luck: Hyssop (10 s)
- Instant Health: Tsubaki (3 s)
- Wither: Dorcel (20 s)
For how suspicious stew works in general, see Flower Effects and Suspicious Stew and Suspicious Stew.
Light-emitting flowers
Aster emits light at level 13, and Dropleaf at level 14. The light level makes these flowers useful as lighting in dark, horror-themed areas where natural light is limited.
Edible plants
- Salmonberry is a bush with four growth stages. Eating its fruit restores 3 hunger points with a saturation of 1.8. It is tagged as fox food, so foxes eat it. The bush also resets fall damage when an entity lands on it.
- Meadow Sage is a tall plant that restores 2 hunger points with a saturation of 0.6. Eating it has a 50% chance to give Instant Health at level I for 1 second.
Composting and flammability
Most flowers have a compost chance of 40%. Corpse Flower, Day Lily, Tassel and Meadow Sage give 60%, and Elephant Ear 50%. Dusktrap gives 30%. The coneflowers and Salmonberry give 25%, Clover 20%, and Dropleaf 15%. Almost all flowers on this page are flammable. Dorcel is not.
Item tags
Most flowers are in the vanilla minecraft:small_flowers and minecraft:flowers item tags, and many are also in the flower-box and herb tags of other mods. Mods that read those tags, including flower boxes and flower pots, treat these flowers as flowers.
Tips
- Use a Dusktrap as a redstone sensor. Its signal stays on while an entity is inside, which makes it simple to detect passing mobs or players.
- Keep Dorcel away from paths that players or mobs use. It is a damage source and slows anything that enters it.
- Be careful with Dorcel in suspicious stew. Its 20 seconds of Wither is long enough to matter in a fight.
