Bamboo Forest is a warm, humid forest biome added by Regions Unexplored. It is the mod's replacement for vanilla Bamboo Jungle, which it takes over at a weight of 100 wherever that biome would generate. In Fear Nightfall it covers about 0.15% of the land surface, so it is a rare biome. It combines bamboo groves, pandas and a large monster pool that includes several horror mobs from the pack.
Description
Bamboo Forest has a temperature of 0.875 and a downfall of 0.8. Precipitation is rain, not snow. The biome is tinted with a lighter, yellower green than vanilla forests: grass is #b4de74 and foliage is #a9ff63. Fog is #b1ccb5 and the sky is #a2c1b5. Water uses the standard blue of #3f76e4.
The look comes mostly from its vegetation rather than from a distinct terrain shape. The ground follows the mod's general overworld surface rules. Bamboo is the dominant plant, and the biome has no underground variant: its cave share at y=-30 is 0.00%.
Generation
Bamboo Forest is placed through the Regions Unexplored biome injectors. It replaces the vanilla Bamboo Jungle source biome at weight 100 and is enabled only in the climate range that Bamboo Jungle occupies. It is tagged as a biome where strongholds are biased to generate, so a stronghold search is more likely to lead into it.
The biome is not on the pack's list of 6× horror biomes, so it gets no extra weighting for horror content. It still draws on the pack's horror structures and mobs, which are placed closer together across the whole world (see Regions Unexplored for the replacement rules).
Features
Bamboo Forest has two tree groups. The primary group places the mod's bamboo tree feature across the ground. The secondary group places vanilla bamboo, with some podzol patches under it. Neither group grows in water.
The biome also places:
- a per-biome shrub group from the mod's common shrub feature;
- patches of bamboo flowers, sparse ferns and sparse short grass in the vegetation step;
- its own spawn list (see below).
Several other mods add features here. Farmer's Delight adds wild carrot and wild onion patches. Supplementaries adds wild flax and cave urns. Critters and Companions adds silk cocoons, including hanging ones. Vanilla pumpkin and sugar cane patches also generate. Ore placement uses the vanilla set for coal, copper, iron, gold, redstone, lapis and diamond, plus the infected diamond ore from Born in Chaos, sulfur ore from Butchery and mithril ore from Iron's Spellbooks.
Mobs and structures
Pandas are the most common passive mob, with a spawn weight of 80.
The monster list is led by vanilla mobs at weight 100: Spider, Skeleton, Creeper and Slime, with Zombie at 95. Horror mobs follow at lower weights. Ghoul and the Slime Golem each have weight 25, Necromancer has 18, and Dread Hound has 7. Krampus is rare, with a weight of 1, and Krampus Henchman has 4. Water spawns include a wide list of fish and cave water creatures.
Roughly 170 structures can generate here. They include bamboo houses and a bamboo campfire, a bamboo hut, a dead tree from the graveyard mod, the Born in Chaos dark tower forest and firewell, and a jungle temple. The full list is in the structure table below.

Tips
- Night is the main danger. The monster pool is dense with vanilla mobs at weight 100, so a player walking through this biome after dark is likely to meet them often.
- Warm-variant frogs spawn here.
- Bamboo does not grow in water, so a base or farm is best built on land near the edge of the biome.
- Because the biome is tagged for stronghold bias, a player searching for a stronghold may end up here more often than in other forests.
